About this pro
Very few voice teachers (including the ones with whom I studied) use science to help singers understand how the voice works and why it sometimes doesn't work. Many teachers use metaphorical phrases that are incomprehensible to their students. I speak to my students in terms they can understand and because of this, improvement happens at a much faster rate. This is not a mysterious art. It is a skill that needs to be studied and practiced like any other skill. When you understand what resonance is and how to achieve it, EVERYTHING is easier! I love watching the excitement on the faces of my students as they discover their best, most resonant sound and learn to duplicate it day after day. They're always so surprised and happy...what could be better?

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? It can seem complicated when I add $10 or $15 on to an hourly or semi-hourly rate to cover gas and tolls. My rates are very reasonable if I don't have to travel too far but tolls in the NY area have skyrocketed and unfortunately I have to pass the cost on to my students.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I always wanted to be a doctor. The summer after 9th grade, but best friend begged me to come to an audition with her - just for the company. I went and got a role. I did shows (plays, musicals, ballet) steadily and then had a break. I was miserable. I couldn't figure out why I was so unhappy. Then, in the middle of my government class is said "uh oh." I was my sophomore year in high school and I knew my fate was sealed. I had to perform and I would never be happy doing anything else. It must have been preordained because I've been very successful and happy in my career.
- What types of customers have you worked with?I teach them to sing, suggest different routes to find work and guide them in their choices about which job to take.
