- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Counting 7 1/2 years of dog training school combined with specialized training I have 42 years of experience. This is training that is at its most instinctive form and has not failed. I have advanced sessions that will help in with learning in how to communicate with you more. You and your dog will become more kin and he/she will be able to sense your commands and movements as second in command.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION During the 30 minute consultation Steve will demonstrate his dogs, and evaluate your dogs. If you want your dogs to behave like Steve's, then you will sign up and pay at that time (with cash, check or credit card) and your 3-4 hour dog training introduction will begin IMMEDIATELY. This first lesson will introduce owners to proper dog training techniques and learning how to manage their dogs. We put pizza, candy, chicken bones etc.. on the floor and teach your dog not to eat them. At the end of your session your dog will not eat or beg for anything that is in front of him/her that they are not supposed to have, running out open doors or gates, walking on a leash without pulling, and those solving minor problems. At the end of the evening you will go home with things to practice and have fun with and set a date for the following 5 session. Each session will have yourself or between 2-6 pairs of handlers and dogs. It's best to start dogs at 10 weeks old (after the 2nd series of shots). Dogs, young and old, are welcome! Session 1 Behavior: BEHAVIORAL Problems Session (may consist of the following): a. House breaking b. Nipping/minor biting c. Chewing d. Dropping things and giving/bringing it back to you e. Digging f. Trash g. Furniture h. Jumping on people j. Running out doors/escaping. Walking on leash k. Coming when called l. Yard control (stay in yard) m. Go to bathroom in your yard in one spot on command n. Not to bark o. How to bark p. Securing your house as an alarm system q. Ride in a car r. Greeting people properly s. BONDING WITH THEIR OWNERS Session 2 - a. Heeling/turning (L & R)/Right abouts/Left abouts b. Fast Heel slow Heel/sitting/walking siting while in motion c. Starting/stopping Session 3 (Review) : a. Review of previous week b. Laying down c. Standing up (for grooming - wiping feet, bathing) d. Hand signals (sit, stand, lay down) 4th Session : a. Review of previous weeks b. Showing them to come in a different method than in previous sessions that you wont be taught in other schools. c. Showing them to go into a heel from the come position that you wont be taught in other schools. 5th Session: a. Review of previous sessions b. Showing your dog things they don't show you in other schools Showing them to stay directly in front of you while you are moving Showing them to still respond to your commands while they are in their own natural relaxed state of mind. This is a very intense course with a lot to learn. Refresher courses are available upon request.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If you want the job to be done completely then you need to look at the testimonials and see what the previous customers are saying. It help you to not only learn how to train your dog but to help you to understand your dog. Some sessions include: ADVANCED SESSION Teach your dog to hold/carry/pick things up, crawl across surfaces, or imagine having your dog bring in the Sunday paper. OBSTACLE COURSE For those that want to have fun teaching their dog to go through the paces. i.e. Hoops, jumps, tunnels etc. K-9 GOOD CITIZEN / THERAPY DOG This level is achieved by your dog completing all the of the above courses. Your dog will be ready to be certified.
