Introduction: I have a lot more "street smarts" when it comes to bookkeeping using QuickBooks Software. I've been using the software since it first started being utilized by small to mid-sized businesses. Therefore, I've used every version that has ever been developed. I've worked as a bookkeeper/controller/office manager for over 20 years and have helped my friends and their colleagues learn QB and bookkeeping in general which helped spread the word about my business. I am more of a "hands-on" consultant vs the Seminar type of training. You can't learn the specifics that you need to learn when you are in a "group" type of class. Every business is different and every goal of that business is different. You won't get the full benefit from a class setting when it comes to learning QB. As far as comparing me to someone else who provides the same service...I can't speak for anyone else but I do know how much patience I have; I know how much passion I have in what I do; I genuinely care about my customers and don't want to leave them feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about anything that I've taught them. Which is why I provide free telephone/email tech support after my training session. So that in 3 to 4 weeks after our session, you can still call me when you get stuck on something and know that I am just a phone call away to help you with the smallest or biggest problem. At the end of the day I want to be friends with a common goal. What I like most about my job is that it offers something different every day and that I learn something new everyday. I find it fun and exciting to see what kind of business venture people try and see how it flourishes over the years. Everyone has a story and I am a great listener so I would have to say that is the best part of my job. I am also a bookkeeping junkie. I like the challenges that it brings and I thrive on being highly organized both on the computer and in the filing cabinet.

We have been using Sheri at Teach Me QB for 6 years now. It's not the most conventional way to have a bookkeeper but it has worked and has saved us tons of money on having someone on the payroll. Our embroidery business has its slow months and the thought of paying a salary to someone, with nothing to do, was just crazy. To think we did that for an entire year before we found Teach Me QB!!! Now I call on their services only when I need them. My customers get billed, my bills get paid and my Financial Reports that they generate from QuickBooks is reviewed with me every month! It's like having my own personal CPA when I need one for 3 times less than I would pay! Words can't describe how happy we are to have her (Teach Me QB, LLC) as a vendor. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing varies from job to job. Bookkeeping services are billed at $85/hr and the work is done quickly and efficiently. While some bookkeepers may take several hours to perform certain tasks, we typically do the same job in 1/2 the time. There are no contracts to sign. You call when you need us. It's as simple as that. Training sessions are billed at $85/hr and can be done any day or time. We will work with all schedules to accommodate all walks of life. Installations and Set-Ups vary and are priced based on the need.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If they are currently using QB the first thing we do is see how they are using it and if they are properly categorizing their expenses and income. Basically looking at their Chart of Accounts and Profit & Loss/Balance sheet reports. For new business or those new to QB, we will recommend the best QB version for them, Install and Set-Up their QB Company file so that they are ready to go. For those wanting us to handle their bookkeeping we discuss how this is done remotely and as-needed. We keep our clients informed and suggest ways that we might see how they can improve profit margins and cutting costs. In this wonderful world of technology it is easier than ever to have a full time bookkeeper providing cost effective, professional bookkeeping without the expense of en employee on payroll. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Just like technology, QuickBooks is constantly changing the way the software looks and works. They also offer the Online Edition now which is very different from the desktop versions. I have to be ready for all the new bells and whistles to stay in the game. As a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and a member of the Research and Development Committee with Intuit (the makers of QuickBooks), I have advanced knowledge of all aspects of the software and a staff with a combined 45 years of bookkeeping experience. Having clients in various industries I can say that I have worked with so many different businesses from Food Manufacturing to Water Chemical Treatment to Construction to e-Commerce to Telecommunications and International Banking to even Pet Cremations!! I also retain the US Coast Guard Base in Cape May NJ as one of my clients for years.
