I have been working at Seaton hackney for about 2 years now and it is by far the best job I've ever had. The employees are treated well, and some are even sent on fabulous vacations every year as a thank you for the hard work put in. All the horses at Seaton hackney are healthy.l and cares for properly. We have two farriers that do a great job of keeping our horses comfortable and multiple vets on call that will help in any way needed. We have multiple instructors of all levels to help cater all of our clients. We teach kids as young as 4 years old to clients that wish to get started a bit later in life. Seaton hackney had recently started an IEA team with over 25 riders that travel to shows on the weekend to represent the farm and show what can be learned from our amazing horses and instructors. We have also started teaching our riders about eventing which has brought a great deal of interest to our clients. Lastly we have been voted #1 summer camp multiple year in a row. So I would encourage people not to listen to a certain Jason F who no one even knows and come and try Seaton hackney yourself.

I have been working at Seaton Hackney Stables for nearly 6 years now, and I have no idea where Jason F. who reviewed on December 27, 2015 got his information from, but everything he said was false. My coworkers and myself all care for the horses very deeply and make it our personal responsibilities to make sure they are looked after well, are happy and healthy and whole. Each one of us specializes in something different and has a unique quality which we bring to work each day. We strive to make peoples experience at the barn enjoyable so they are happy while they are with us and get something out of their experience. The stable caters to not just beginners a Jason F. rudely put, but to all levels. Not only do we have a wonderful troop program, we also have a new and exciting advanced riding team Called IEA which has been making us all very proud all throughout the fall. We cater to people of all ages, and all abilities. So please, come on down, and let one of my wonderful team members show you around!

I have been riding at Seaton Hackney for 3 years. I have learned so much about riding and horses. There are many opportunities and learning experiences to be had at this stable. As well as a great community of friends. Every staff member cares about the wonderful horses and the Seaton Hackney community. The staff members go above and beyond to make the horses and the students happy. Seaton Hackney cares so much about their horses and it shows in the way they look. The horses are treated with great respect. People at Seaton Hackney take suggestions into great consideration, making my experience incredible.

My parents took me to Seaton Hackney back in the 70s - I took riding lessons for 5 years, and continued to ride during college! Here's a video of me from 1975 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XVEKySW2jQ I've stayed in touch with the nice people at Seaton Hackney for 40 years, visiting the horses when I'm in the area ... if I had kids, I'd certainly encourage them to ride as I did when I was young. Even now, I toy with the idea of taking their adult lessons ... but sigh, that same old excuse "I'm too old". ;)

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We are a Morris County Park Commission owned facility and that makes us very close to the community and the general public. Apart from safety, of course, our priority is to offer all kinds of horseback riding and horsemanship activities for every age and every budget. Our riders range from 3 years old all the way into their seventies. We make a point to offer the best possible exposure to everything equine at rates below the average privately owned facility.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We start by suggesting a 30 minutes private Evaluation Lesson. This is not just for us to evaluate the rider, as some may not have any experience, but also for the potential client to make sure that this is the right thing for them. We want them to understand what is involved, the kind of instruction they will get, how long it will take them to achieve a degree of proficiency. We also want to understand their goals: Is it just for pleasure? To be able to safely and confidently trail ride? Does one want more formal instruction? Do they plan to own their own horse in the near future? By knowing each and everyone of our customers and understanding their personal goals, we are in a better position to help them fulfill these.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I actually teach people about it and give clinics in the field.
