- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly rate is $50, or $30 for a half hour lesson (there may be an additional fee when I travel to the student, depending on the distance); however, I am very generous with my time and if there is not another student waiting, I will almost always continue past the scheduled time. I like my students to end their lesson by singing/working through one of their pieces, so that they always leave with a feeling of accomplishment.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always begin by asking the student what they hope to accomplish with their art, then we'll talk a little bit about their past experience. From there, we will dive right in with a few stretches incorporating Alexander technique to open up the body, some breathing exercises and vocal warmups, and we'll end each lesson by working on a piece of music! I tailor each lesson to the needs and talents of the individual student, and work every aspect of performance; not just the vocal, but also the interpretation and presentation, so that they can create fully developed characters and ace their auditions!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory of Music, where in addition to performance, I was trained in acting, dance, conducting, piano and vocal pedagogy. I also have years of performance experience, both in the U.S. and throughout Europe; primarily in opera and classical music, but also in musical theatre and operetta. I have done some directing and choreographing as well.
