What can I say about Roseann? She has been more than a "help" with my rescued lab Rocky. From the moment she and I spoke on the phone for the 1st time, to the present, she has gone above and beyond the call of duty! Let me digress. Rocky was our 2nd rescued lab. He came to us afraid, but was sweet and reserved . Eventually, he let us into his heart. It took him 3 months to give me a kiss. He then became, what we thought, aggressive. Not to us - just didnt like anyone in the house, other than his 'family'. Then they couldnt go into the kitchen or upstairs. He would get in their face, or, piddle on the floor and cower. Go crazy when someone walked near the house - even a car going by! Forget other dogs! Seeing a dog while we walked was a nightmare! Didnt like them. Yet loved to go to doggie day camp. He was such a contradiction in many ways So many problems, I cant list them all... I consider myself pretty good with dogs. I love them have always had a 'connection', I guess you could call it. But Rocky was out of my league. I tried other dog trainers, spending almost $1000.00 dollars. Nothing helped. Then I called Big Tail Waggin. Once I spoke with Roseann, I felt like someone FINALLY got 'it'!! She came to my home, since she knew he couldnt be in a group setting. She spent sooooo much time with me. Calling me before she came to the door, so we could 'set him up'. Led me step by step, by step, by step. Patient? Wow, is she ever - Im the type that has a lot of questions. Likes to know 'Why?'. She explained his behavior in detail. He was fearful aggressive. A jumble of emotions - why would he 1/2 squeal, 1/2 bark, run around in a frenzy looking for the person in or outside the house. Explained why and when positive reinforcement is the best and ONLY way to go when training. She trained ME! Explained his movements, posture etc. Told ME what to do if a certain behavior came up. She set ME up for success. At some point, I was feeling guilty about my lack of time spent with my other dog. Being overwhemed was taking its toll. Spending a lot of time training, then life got in the way and I had to back off the training. Mentally, Roseann was my rock. I called her one day very upset. Feeling I wasnt doing my job - feeling I was failing him AND my other dog. She actually spent time talking about ME and giving me a pep talk!!!! I hung up feeling recharged and IN charge! We have made much progress with Rocky. He has actually made it to the fence at the Thompson Park dog park without having a meltdown! I know what his limitations are, and how to challenge him. Roseann explained that he will always BE a challenge... but we love him and he, us. We continue to make progress, too. Rocky has found Agility, as has my daughter, and Roseann has instructed them on a few occassions. We will see how this new adventure turns out for them. They both love it! And I can see how much joy Roseann gets watching and teaching them both too! Let me tell you, she is the real deal! Not only is she a wonderful trainer, she is a wonderful person. She is a bevy of information... and is always willing to share it! I will forever be grateful to her for everything she has done for Rocky and our family. She is the best!!!

My dogs Spike and Drusilla have gone through 3 levels of obedience and 1 clicker training class at Big Tail Waggin. They are now both licensed therapy dogs thanks to these classes. The classes are so much fun for both canine and humans and the classes are kept small so each dog/handler team gets individual attention from the instructor. I highly recommend using Big Tail Waggin' for your training needs.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
That once we share our knowledge with them and teach them how to use the "tools" they need for teaching their dogs to pay attention and respond to their requests, they have something really special, and if they apply these practices consistently to real-life situations, they could significantly, and with some dogs permanently, change their dog's behavior. This does not mean we aren't there to guide and encourage them, we surely are and they can call or email as frequently as they would like or need to, in fact we prefer they do, but if they don't apply what they learn and practice during their lessons to the world outside of Big Tail Waggin' they won't achieve their goals. If imploring them to work these practices into their daily routine, until many of the exercises are done as a matter of course with their dog, I'd do so on my knees! Like anything else in life, effort in = progress forward!
