Introduction: I'll NEVER turn a student/family away due to financial reasons. If you need help, please get in touch. "I wish I had called you sooner." [That's what I hear most often from parents and students] If you're looking for help with standardized test prep and/or academic help, you have come to the right place! I can help students who are struggling, students who are looking to excel and virtually everyone else in between. I can also assist students/families applying to college/grad school. I'm able to help with school selection, letters of recommendation, essay/personal statement, resume, interviews, early action/decision, financial aid, athletic scholarships, and much more. You are guided each step of the way from start to finish. ***Space is very limited!*** I also have direct experience working with students who have ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, auditory processing disorder, students with IEPs and other documented-learning disabilities. I do not have training in specialized education, but rather successful experience. While other tutors may shy away from students who they think might be challenging to teach, I embrace these opportunities. I have a very diverse educational background. My behavioral neuroscience degree consists of courses in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, English, psychology, calculus and bio-statistics, and I also took courses in Japanese culture, History, Chinese religion, philosophy and theater (performance and production). Here's another reason to choose me. I worked for and was trained by one of the country's largest and well-known tutoring companies for more than 2 years, and within that short time became one of their best and busiest tutors (nationwide). I was in such high demand that I traveled to New York, Philadelphia, and all over New Jersey - before finally working on my own. I've taught well over 700 students in a classroom setting (in person) and well over 900 students online (through virtual classrooms). I've privately tutored well over 220 students (in person and online). I am experienced in academic tutoring from grade school through college. (I do some graduate level tutoring as well; just please inquire for more information). I have over 6 years of experience working as a tutor and teacher within a large organization, with smaller organizations, and now run/manage my own tutoring business. I handle the following standardized tests: * NJ-ASK * SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) * PSAT * SAT (current and new format) * SAT subject tests * ACT * AP (Advanced Placement) exams * IB (International Baccalaureate) exams * GED * GRE * MCAT * GMAT * Praxis (many subjects) * ASVAB *TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) * Accuplacer * College Placement Exams * ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) * SHSAT (Specialized High School Admissions Test) * Regents (many subjects) If you don't see your test here, just inquire! Academic subjects include the following: * Algebra * Algebra II * Trigonometry * Geometry * Pre-Calculus * Statistics * Biology * Chemistry * Physics * English * Literature * History * Social Studies * Computers and Networking * Computer Software, etc. ***I also offer advanced math/science coaching for school competitions*** If you don't see your subject here, just inquire! I also have experience working with students who are home-schooled, especially when it comes to preparing them for entering high school or college, and I have experience working with adults who are returning to school for associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees. Some student successes include over 350 points score improvement on the SAT, several 800s on the SAT and SAT subject tests, over 20 points score improvement on the GRE, over 8 points improvement on the MCAT, 30 point improvement on the Math Praxis, over 34 on the ACT (with 36s in science, math and reading) and 5s on various AP exams. While I cannot guarantee scores like the ones above, I do promise to do my very to help you get your highest score/grade possible! *For all prospective ACT students: I offer customized score reports for all my ACT students. This is a powerful tool to analyze test performance, diagnose problem areas, and track progress. It's an advantage that virtually no other private tutor offers. Please inquire for more information.* Standardized test prep and private tutoring is a huge industry that is growing with each passing year. In less than 10 years, the percent of high school students seeking tutoring has more than doubled! Many of my students have tried several academic centers and test prep companies before coming to me. The reason for that is simple. When you work through an academic/learning center or a national test prep company, the teachers/tutors are forced to follow a curriculum and seldom have the flexibility to change it for their students. In addition, those curricula are designed for 'one-style-fits-all', and they are designed on the principle of 'teaching to the middle.' That is why so many times those tutoring packages are ineffective because you follow a plan that's created before the teacher/tutor meets the student and follows the same path for each student regardless of how the student is progressing. Unlike the above strategies, I will customize our lessons together based upon your abilities, goals and time limitations. Regardless of whether you have taken a class, self-studied or have yet to begin studying, we can help you improve. I provide much more personal feedback than you would receive in a traditional classroom (with 15, 20, 25 or even more students), so that time spent with me is much more productive. With the proper mindset, guidance and practice, you can meet your goals. So if you're preparing for a standardized test, an academic test/final or trying to get through course material and feel more confident again, I will do my best to help you do your best. Group discounts are also available. I've also noticed that students in a group setting (smaller than that of a traditional class) are not as shy when asking questions. I have also noticed that in smaller groups that each student is more competitive, and this drives each student to do his or her best. My experience tutoring so many subjects and exams has given me insight that lets me simplify even the most complex material. That's why I believe myself to be such an effective tutor. So whether it's SAT Math or ACT English or GMAT Argument Analysis or GRE Verbal or MCAT Physics or college level chemistry, I break the material down into simpler concepts. Experience also allows me to be flexible. Your algebra teacher pushed the test back and you'd rather review solubility rules and titration from today's chemistry lab? No worries. Suddenly remember halfway through a physics problem that you also have a pre-calc quiz tomorrow and want to spend the rest of our session reviewing for that? You got it. I offer no-cost consultations (up to 30 minutes) to all students over the phone or online. Free consultations in person may only be available in Toms River or Morganville (as my schedule allows). Education is an investment. Just an increase of 100 points on the SAT, 3 points on the ACT, or a 0.2 increase in GPA can significantly increase merit scholarship awards and dramatically raise a student's chances of being accepted to a better school. Unfortunately, far too many parents and students find this out once it's too late. "I wish I had called you sooner." Each day spent waiting is another class or lecture's worth of material that you potentially fall behind or another low quiz/test score that will only make it harder to recover from. Get in touch today to schedule your free consultation! Cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance due to high demand. It is best to get in touch with as early as possible, so we have time to coordinate our schedules. I can try to accommodate last-minute requests, but cannot guarantee them. Weather policy: In the event of inclement weather (snow, sleet, freezing rain, extreme rain, heavy wind, weather advisories/warnings, road closures, etc) travel can either take much longer than normal or not be advisable. I will make every reasonable effort to keep commitments and keep on schedule when the weather doesn't necessarily cooperate. I just ask the same in return. Please do not wait until the very last second to make a decision when it comes to weather- related changes. Travel Policy: I may charge additional for travel that exceeds 30 minutes, but this would be discussed and confirmed prior to our initial lesson. Simply put, if you're looking for exceptional tutoring and quality guidance, you need not look any further. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I would be glad to answer them. Thank you for considering me to help you/your family. So, what are you waiting for? Contact me today!
