Powerhouse provides value for the work performed, and they are flexible. Originally, we were going to refinish the floors in four rooms, but we discovered that we were happier with having one room refinished, and the other three rooms carpeted. The company was able to accommodate our desires. We dealt with nine different people associated with Powerhouse including people who analyzed the ability to * Remove squeaks without damaging underlying hardwood floors (not possible); * Floor refinisher; * Molding installers; * Estimate carpeting size; * Minimize the amount of carpeting to select; * Selecting the carpet that best fit our needs; * Purchasing carpet and padding (different vendors); * Carpet installation; * Cleaning; and * Moving heavy furniture, as needed. There were little things that needed to be adjusted, and Michael oversaw different crews who worked with us to make the required adjustments. Personnel were courteous, knew their business, kept appointments, and did neat work. Prices were reasonable. We will use them again. The following is not related to Powerhouse, but are two hints that may be useful to you: 1. If you refinish your floors, there is considerable smell from the varnish. If you leave wet coffee grounds in the room, and baking soda in a separate dish, it will help to absorb the smell. 2. I painted one of the rooms myself, and I found that using the new high-quality 3/8" nap rollers did not work as well as using Purdy rollers.
Mr. Sargent did a beautiful job on the cabinets in our laundry room. He was professional, friendly, courteous and finished the job in record time. Our walls weren't straight and he managed to work with that challenge. Clean up was fast and thorough. I'm going to hire him again because he also stays within your budget. A plus!
Highly Recommend- John was prompt each day and did a great job. Though the room was small it needed several coats. He also helped "repair" the radiant heater covers so that they too could be painted properly.
I spent 3 years looking for a handyman, someone to bring our dryer vent system up to code, and a competent chimney sweep. I found people who were sullen, unfriendly, did just enough to get by and unprofessional. Most of these people didn't even return phone calls. And then two weeks ago, I discovered ONERüF (pronounced One Roof)!! How rare to find a company that is not only responsive, but employs truly skilled specialists who know exactly what they are doing, take pride in their work, and very nice people. Our first experience was when Larry Rickman, Owner of ONERüF sent us Andrew Anthony. Andrew came to the house to evaluate the job and create a proposal. He was friendly, interested and asked insightful questions to identify what needed to be done. His inspection was thorough. In a few days I received an estimate in an E-mail from ONERüF and after I agreed Andrew called to set up an appointment. When Andrew arrived at our house he quickly went to work, he was organized, had the necessary tools, and all the needed components that were to be installed. I watched as he worked and found him to be extremely detailed oriented, knew exactly the steps to be taken to the end result. He accomplished the job in the estimated time, was proud of his work, and explained what he did to accomplish the end result. And all this time although he was focused, he was friendly, smiling, and gentle in his manner. What a pleasure! Our second experience with ONERüF was with a Chimney Sweep, a retired fireman named Bill Haupert. Bill called ahead to let me know what time he would be here. And in the same manner as Andrew, Bill was friendly, very positive in his manner, and developed an immediate and comfortable rapport with me and my wife. This is, without a doubt the most thorough chimney cleaning we’ve experienced. Not only did Bill take all the soot off the chimney cap but he also used a wire brush to it to make it shine. His preoccupation about protecting everything in the room from the dust and soot that had to come out of the Chimney is really appreciated. Again, here is a person who is meticulous in his work, conscious of his surroundings, and still engaging and friendly. He took the grate outside to clean it, and after carefully taping a protective seal around the fireplace to seal it so he could vacuum the debris and caked soot coming to come from the chimney he went on the roof and cleaned the chimney pipe and then thoroughly vacuumed the fireplace. After vacuuming the fireplace, he also washed the walls of the fireplace and adjusted the side plates to ensure it stayed safe, and then washed the brick facade, because it was blackened from use. When he was done he inspected his work to ensure it was as clean as possible and to ensure nothing was left undone, and again like Andrew, was clearly satisfied with what he’d done and explained how he’d accomplished the results. And to top this off, as he shook my hand and said good bye, he let me know he coiled up the hose outside that clearly need coiling and the electrical cord as well. We can’t say enough about how pleased we are with the competent and thoughtful people Larry Rickman sent to our home. The work is first-rate, the prices more than fair and the people a pleasure. We recommend ONERüF without reservation and look forward to an ongoing relationship.
I plan on hiring George again. He responded quickly, came on time, stood by his quote and completed the job exactly as requested. He added an outlet on an exterior wall and moved light switches in my bathroom to make room for some tile work. Christine Reno, NV
A room at a time, she put my husband's and my very opposite ideas together and made our home exciting and both of us happy.
Steve Figueroa had done an addition to our house. We love the quality of his work very detail oriented, got the addition done in a reasonable amount of time. He had also done some work on our church building and again the work he done was excellent and done in a good amount of time. I would definitely use him again to do any type of construction to my house.
Our first experience with Troy was in 2009 when he worked on our bedroom extension and remodel of the master bath at our home in Grand Terrace, CA. The entire job took about 6 weeks as we had to remove a patio and deck in the process. From start to finish, Troy was professional in his work and very easy to talk to and make decisions with. He did an excellent job with the framing and roofing as well as the installation of new bathroom fixtures and tile work, both in the tub area and the flooring. If there was something we questioned or asked to have done differently (i.e., taking back a bathtub to replace it with a larger, soaking tub), Troy was always accommodating and happy to do what we wanted. When that project was completed, Troy framed and installed a new deck and sidewalk in our backyard.Over the next four years, we had more projects that we called Troy for help with and he was always ready and willing to come take a look, give a bid, and tackle the work. We had him install attic fans in the house, make and install shutters on the front windows, and paint our house. The work was always done to our satisfaction and we miss being able to call him for work we'd like to have done as he is no longer in southern CA.We highly recommend Troy Malley as a professional handyman whose work is exemplary. The Nelsens Grand Terrace, CA
My job was the installation of crown molding and some millwork - specifically a dining room built in unit with open cabinets and closed cupboards on the bottom. I gave him a picture and the dimensions I needed and it turned out great. I had to make a couple of additions because I forgot to have him put shelves in the bottom cupboards - but I learned "by doing" - ha. He was fast, the unit was completed on time, and he was very responsive when I called him.
Erica and her team basically achieved the impossible for me this weekend. I had only two days to accomplish a massive amount of work before I left to return to LA. Here's the list of projects - and no, I'm not making this up: - four interior walls (3,600sq ft house with great room) - entry way to the property - entire back patio - steps to patio - sand, stain and varnish great room breakfast bar - touch up throughout (including ceilings) - sand, fill and paint exterior fencing around dog run and storage area - scrape, skim and repaint pointing at the back of the house - repaint closet doors in guest room - touch up and paint ceiling in toddler room All this was done in a day and a half for a great price. On time. On Budget. Great Results. -
Jim did a fantastic job of converting a room from a little used space to a wonderful extra bedroom that we now constantly use and increased the value of our hose substancially. Jim did it on time and on budget.
