Dale did not show a sense of accountability for the two mistakes he made--laying off-colored tile and improper installation of a heating element in the floor. After debating with him about fixing his mistakes at no charge, we compromised on a dollar amount. Although he agreed, it was obvious that he was upset. I was concerned that he would work halfheartedly and potentially create bigger issues. I ended up hiring someone else to make the repairs. I gave him an "average" mark because, as a contractor, I find the attitude typical. On the other hand, his product was 3+/4- stars and his knowledge was 4/5 star. His total charge was on the high side. He didn't clean up after himself, but again that's surprising.

Hi,
I worked for this new contractor hourly on the understanding he was a general contractor. I fixed a remodel that he had to tear out, because he didn't do it right. I was there just to install tile at 50$ an hour. I left him with instructions on how to install the thermostat wire upon purchasing it. I left the home with the home owners loving my work and wishing they had hire me first. When I left everything was clean in the areas I was working in. I do admit the job was a complete mess from the tub protection to the trash he left all over the place. I got a call two weeks later from the contractor saying there was a discolored tile. I thought that was odd since I bought all the tile directly from daltile and all tile was same dye lot. I offered to come over next day and repair the tile and the contractor asked me to install the thermostat he had finally purchase . We agreed that the installation of thermostat wire was adrditional work. I got a call about an hour later from the contractor. He stated that this was a simple enough repair if even needed and the thermostat install, he could take care of it himself. On a side note he had not seen the discoloration in one tile. This was coming from a helper of his and we agreed it could just be lighting issue due to a temporary light. I was never called or given an opportunity to correct any issue otherwise I would of fixed for free.
