- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up loving art. I though one day I could be the next Picasso or the next Vincent van Gogh. I've always had a passion for colors and for the art of mixing and blending and creating art. As I got older I realized how much I loved fashion and the art of making someone feel like a complete different person just by adding a touch of color to their face, I then discovered that I could use my art skills to create smiles!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I got a chance to do makeup for a photo shoot for Aaron Hagar's wife, the beautiful Michaela Hagar, the moment she sat on my chair I could tell she was nervous, she then told me about a recent bad experience she had in Las Vegas. She was afraid she would look older like in the pictures she was showing me. She didn't like the fact that makeup aged her. I said it's not the makeup that makes you look older it's the way the makeup was applied. If not applied correctly it will creates the appearance of aged skin. I then proceeded with her makeup as The team worked on her hair, and I promised that she would not let her leave my chair without a smile on her face. Once we were done I gave her a mirror to look and see if there was anything she would like to change. She smiled and said " I love it" and she stared at her self for a long while... after her photo shoot she pulled me aside and personally thanked me and told me she loved the way her eyes looked and asked if we would do her hair and makeup for and upcoming photo shoot. I was very satisfied with the outcome and proud of our work as a team work. ( her picture is showed on our profile pictures.)
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
To make sure that regardless who you hire, make sure you get the look that you want and not a look that they feel comfortable with. It's important to let Hair stylist and your makeup artist know specifically what look you are trying to accomplish. If they suggest you try something different and you know what your heart desires, move on to the next. Remember pictures are forever and you have to be happy with what you see...
