FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am always transparent about my quotes and am not trying to get rich off one customer or have them feel like they really had to dig in their wallet. I always work with the customer to reach a price point that they are happy with. When I price a job on thumbtack I first take the fee that I am charged which ranges up to two hundred dollars depending on the size of the job and price that into the quote. Next I take into account how many days it will take me and what my labor costs will be depending on how many of my workers I have with me, unless it's a job that I can do by myself. Before I factor in material costs I always give the customer the option to buy the paint and or any other materials on their own so I can exclude that from my quote. Finally I price out my two quotes one with material included and one without material barring the customer provide the material. If after giving my quote the customer feels uneasy about it and or has received cheaper quotes from other contractors I try to come to a point we both can agree on.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer I always try to build a transparent working relationship from the start. I fill them in every step of the way so they are constantly updated and in the loop of things prior to the start date of the job up until the last day on the job. I want them to know what's being worked on, how's it coming along, and are they happy with the process that has been made thus far. This way they can feel at ease about the quality of work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated Hunter College with my BFA in painting and have studied color theory for many years. I have also been working for my now retired fathers contracting company for over 10 years and have been in the business of interior renovations for nearly 15 years. My jobs have ranged from city buildings with NYCHA, 1000 plus unit buildings throughout the five boroughs, to million dollars homes in Long Island. I've done both residential and commercial but mainly residential.
