FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have always been interested in sustainability and want to keep that in mind when designing interiors. I took a LEED class in college and am working towards getting LEED credentials. (LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Ever since I was a child, I have always been creative and artistic. In 7th grade, I took a test based on my skills and personality which showed the top five jobs I would be good at; architecture and interior design were my top two choices. Since then, I took technology and art classes in high school and decided to go to Rochester Institute of Technology where I received my BFA in Interior Design.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Interior designers often are misinterpreted for interior decorators. Interior designers are qualified to design floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, 3D renderings showing a 3D replica of a space, furniture and finish selections and much more. Interior designers receive either a bachelor or masters degree while an interior decorator does not require a degree. Interior designers are focused on not only how beautiful a space can be created but the circulation of the room, space planning, where light fixtures go, etc. while interior decorators focus primarily on the aesthetics.
