This is my first experience with Thumbtack and Devon. My experience is unfortunately mixed. He did the work requested excellently, even supplying screws where those needed were missing and installing an additional light. At the end, however, I was presented with a final price that was over $130 more than the agreed upon price of $85 per hour for the four hours worked. He explained it as a mandatory two hour surcharge added to all jobs. Once I protested that it was neither listed on his profile or previously discussed, he “lowered” the price to $375 because I was “a good customer”. I weighed paying the $340 earned versus the $375 to finalize everything and decided to pay and be done. I subsequently called Thumbtack who explained that no such surcharge exists. It has really soured the experience.
