About this pro

How does your service stand out?

My work tends to stand out because for one I don't use flash photography in most cases. Enabling the event/moment to be seen in its exact environment.. Also like to approach with a fly on the wall type process only interacting with primary subjects when requested.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

Being able to enable clients to remember great moments as if it were yesterday or showing them moments they missed. I believe that's what I like most about my Photography profession.

I Met with Ed Marshall a week before the wedding and instantly knew that he was the perfect photographer for us. I let him know what we wanted and he delivered that exactly. We didn't want over-dramatic, surrealistic wedding photography that looked like a fairy tale. We just wanted the natural beauty of the moments: candid and as-it-is. He gave us exactly that. Marshall is respectful, cool and deeply dedicated to his client. He showed up early and blended into the wedding crowd like an old friend. I barely noticed him during the ceremony, and he took beautiful shots that captured the mood and story of our special day. I will recommend him to everyone who needs a great photographer for a very fair price. * We received the photos very promptly * Easy to communicate with (active listener) * Zero complaints, 100% satisfied.

Ed is one of the friendliest, most professional people I have ever met. He photographed our wedding and we couldn't be happier with the results. Far from your typical wedding photos, they captured all moments of the celebration without missing a moment - while never seeming invasive. Would recommend (have already recommended him) Ed to anyone who would like a professional photographer with an amazing eye for composition to capture their most important moments.

Ed Marshall Photography was hired by a wedding client of ours. He is extremely professional and produced some incredible images for my client which I hope to use on my website. EMP blends into the crowd to the point you forget he is even at the event--but this definitely attributes to his ability to catch those special candid moments. Very impressive photographer.

We had the pleasure of having Ed shoot our wedding photos. He was non-intrusive but always there capturing special intimate moments before and after the ceremony. We loved our photos! They were beautiful! The lighting was perfect and the shots looked magazine worthy! He also provided our photos sooner than we thought. Needless to say, we would recommend him to any and everyone with a special event they want to have beautiful photos of. Thank you, The Tylers

We hired Ed to photograph our wedding in NYC and we were very impressed with his services. Ed's relaxed and unrushed approach to his job really helped to create a beautiful atmosphere for the whole day. In between the normal posed shots, Ed blended in with the crowd to take a multitude of candid shots which really are the showpiece of the day. Ed was also more than happy to follow us around Manhattan after the reception to capture some very special moments for us, which we will cherish as a wonderful memory of our special day. Ed also delivered all the photos the next day as promised. We have no hesitation in recommending Ed for any photographic project and we will definitely be using his services next time we visit NYC. His ability to draw the focus to the subject, my wife and I, while also capturing the chaos of Midtown Manhattan truly is remarkable Duane and Suzzie

We asked Ed to come take some pictures of our spa to use for marketing and promotions. They came out beautifully. The colors were rich and vibrant, and the angles and composition were very pleasing to our eyes. Turnaround time was also very good.

My museum has been using Ed for many years and he has never ceased to impress and amaze us. His work is gorgeous and really captures the heart of what we are trying to achieve with our public events. Not only does he create beautiful work, but he is a joy to work with. He is reliable, amiable, and considerate. He is our number one and we would highly recommend him!

Ed Marshall is my go-to photographer for client projects, cultural events, and more. Quiet and unassuming, he enters a room, looks, listens, and unerringly shoots. His images bring you front and center to an intimate conversation, a raucous concert, you name it. Ed also captures the quiet moments between the peaks, creating a sense of context and space that do much for communicating what was really going on. If you're thinking of hiring Ed, do yourself a favor. You won't be disappointed.

I first began to work with photographer Ed Marshall in the Spring of 2006. He has proven himself a relentless creative force in the New York artistic community and has been a pleasure to both be shot by as well as collaborate with.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process is pretty cut and dry. I ask to receive 50% to lock the event date, I confirm a week before the event and request a shot list if there is a need. Send one last email confirming location and time, then I arrive at event, capture it, receive other 50% of payment and deliver images through an internet file delivery system. (Unless otherwise agreed.) Depending on event I deliver anywhere between 24hrs and a week, but that is usually arranged between myself and the client.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a Photographer for almost 10 years, with all of my capturing without flash. Started out shooting live music events in New York City nightclubs, capturing very animated subjects in very low light. Primary focus is always to get the environment captured in a way that it was, opposed to how it can be manipulated through software.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have a specific pricing system.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I became a Photographer because of my love of moments and it has given me the ability to meet and experience many great people, places and things. I started photographing live shows, because I found myself experiencing great talents and I wished to help them build their visual profiles.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've had all types of customers Artists of all kinds, weddings, birthdays, holiday parties, Panel discussions, real Estate, Travel, Fashion, sports, Nudes. Primarily anything that can be captured with a camera I have and will do.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I just recently captured a Traditional Indian wedding and it was beautiful! The ceremony, the people, the music and the colors were beautiful!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice for a customer looking to hire a provider in my area would be to make sure to have a list of things that are MOST important for you to capture. Each event captured is unique per client every time a Photographer is hired they only get one shot at special moments.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What is the primary focus of your event.
