Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My students have performed in Carnegie Hall and won many contests in city/state festivals. Testimonials show that kids love to work with me and are inspired to practice by the music I give them and the concerts I organize for them. I enjoy inspiring others to develop a skilled craft in music that they can be proud of. The investment of time and energy in music makes them more confident and develops a self-motivated work ethic that is carried across the disciplines. My students all excel in academics and sports as well as music and arts, and seeing that progress is the joy I get from this work.

As a composer, collaborating with Dennis Shafer continues to be a great opportunity to work with an incredibly well-rounded, sophisticated, and poetic musician. After soliciting my musical intentions, such an impeccably pictorial and wonderfully sincere performance of my music could only have arisen from someone so wholly invested not only in his craft, but in a greater concept of what music can mean. I am eager to be again composing music for Dennis to perform. In the spirit of his teaching philosophy, he’s opened my eyes to the thrill of collaborative work. Composers can be recluses, and I needed that eye-opener. His availability, willingness, and capacity to clarify the challenges of writing well for the saxophone makes me a better composer. A chance to work or study with Dennis in any capacity should not be passed up. He is a renaissance man and a worldbeater.

We have known Dennis Shafer for almost two years, in that time he has taught my now 10 year old son to play the clarinet and more recently the saxophone. He also managed and led a small group of students to form a band; all of which were beginners in their instruments. Dennis is a fantastic teacher, he is passionate and enthused and very much an inspiration for my son. His lessons are fun and he introduces different types of music. Thomas has developed well with Dennis and accomplished much. I would highly recommend him to others.

Mr. Dennis has both the ability and patience to teach students of all grades and competency level. He makes learning fun and my daughter looks forward to her Sax lessons every week. Mr. Dennis pro-actively puts music ensembles together to showcase his students’ work and boast their confidence. He also suggests outside programs for the kids that both challenges their comfort zones and expands their musical horizons.
