Just about 2 years ago we used SHIRE Inspection Services for 2 home inspections, while in pursuit of our dream home.
We chose SHIRE because of the certifications and testing options that they offered in comparison to other home inspectors. SHIRE offered us the options for infrared testing a scan which showed us the draft spots in our home as well as areas of concern with insulation, not to mention the Radon testing which we found some home inspectors contracted out. We especially liked that SHIRE offered 48 hr turnaround Radon testing since we were in a time crunch.
With SHIREs ability to service us as an all in one package we were able to save time and money. This was especially critical when we put an offer in on our first choice which we did not end up purchasing after we got back the report on the home which was easy to understand.
When we eventually put an offer in on the home we did choose, SHIREs home inspection allowed us the opportunity for bargaining based on many of the small things that were indicated on the report. Now that we have purchased our first home that was safe and met all of our standards, we will continue to use SHIRE and will of course recommend this company as we have already done multiple times.

I hired them for inspections on my home and 8 rental properties prior to purchase in 2007. They showed up on time, explained what they were doing and were happy to answer all of my questions. They did an excellent job pointing out and explaining what needed to be repaired right away and what future maintenance and repair items I would need to budget for. They prepared a very professional report which I used as a closing tool. This resulted in a substantial change in my purchase price as well as well written information regarding likely future expenses. They put my mind at ease while making these investments.
The estimate of future maintenance and repair items has turned out to be very accurate. I have had previous home inspections done by other companies and none of them were done as thoroughly and knowledgeably as SHIRE's inspection service. They were excellent and I would highly recommend them.
