- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Your wedding is coming up, and if there werenÂt enough details to think about, someone poses the question, ÂAre you going to hire someone for makeup or do it yourself? ThatÂs tricky because you know your everyday makeup probably isnÂt going to cut it for a long day (and possibly night) of endless photos, talking, laughing, dancing  and letÂs be real  a fair amount of crying, too. Since wedding photos were meant to last a lifetime and the majority of those photos will show your face, this is no time to mess around! As a makeup artist whoÂs done weddings all over the state of NY, I definitely have some tips to share on how to find a great makeup artist and how to avoid the common pitfalls to avoid that most brides wish they knew ahead of time. MAKEUP: 1. Make sure the artistÂs resume and portfolio demonstrate that he/she is highly skilled in a variety of photographic situations. 2. Pick up the phone and ask questions voice-to-voice. Notice how you feel about their responses and youÂll get an immediate sense if that artist is right for you. 3. Make sure the artist is comfortable working with your complexion, and will tailor the makeup application to the expected lighting, weather, and even theme of your wedding. 4. Be Cautious: If the artist isnÂt timely on responding to your call, is hard to get a hold of, or you feel like their responses are too vague. These are all signals of being unprofessional. The last thing you need is a flaky artist. 5.You would do well to have a trial with each artist you are considering and make sure you love how you look before making a decision. YouÂll pretty much know as soon as youÂre done if you are going to like the work of the artist or not. Also it will give you a chance to see how the products they use work for their face or cause a bad reaction. TANNING: 1. Choose the best tanning salon for YOU. Prices do not mean everything. Make sure your tanning salon has a friendly and certified staff who will not only make you feel comfortable, but will also share their knowledge about indoor tanning and products. 2. Prepare Your Skin. Before indoor tanning your skin should be clean and free of dead skin build up. You want your skin to get the best tan possible so using a mild soap or body wash and a quality exfoliator is essential. Using a body poof, scrub skin on arms and legs and the rest of the body in circular motions. This action will help remove dead skin that will increase the effectiveness of tanning 3. Always wear protective eye wear 4.Use an after tan moisturizer at least twice daily 5.Use a high quality indoor tanning lotion 6. Try to avoid showering within 5-7hours of tanning or applying bronzers 7. Whiten your teeth at the same time! You may have heard of our Twilight Teeth Whitening system. Let me tell you, it works! Now you can whiten your teeth while you tan, or at home too! 6. Don't fall for "too-good-to-be-true" tanning deals, and don't forget to ask about unadvertised specials ;)
