Introduction: Maxfield Music, founded in 2015 by Kristen Maxfield, is home based music studio in Canandaigua NY, located adjacent to the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York. Maxfield Music offers individual and group lessons in Voice (Vocal Yoga method applied in the lesson), Piano, Basic Musicianship (Theory), Sight Singing, Ear Training, and Songwriting, and in a variety of genres including, but not limited to, Jazz, R&B, Classical, Broadway, Country, and Pop. We also offer Networking Opportunities, Master Classes, Workshops, and other events with world-renowned producers, songwriters, and musicians within all genres of the music business. Many people aren't provided the opportunity to really #raisethelevel within themselves musically. I feel it is my calling as a teacher to help each student achieve that goal. I am blessed to have received so many students of all ages and levels of ability and to see the enthusiasm and confidence grow in a student. It is the best reward for all the hard work I do as a teacher. The relationships formed and fostered between the students, their families, and myself, and the student and I are such a blessing and teaches me so much more about who I am as a teacher and artist, as well as what my full potential is. I love each and every one of them!!!!

I love music and always wanted to learn piano. I got to know Kristen through Thumbtack and started learning piano in June. It's been amazing, Kristen is really easy to work with, she is flexible about schedule and her teaching is awesome. The best part is she sees to it that you get the things right and perfect, makes you understand in easy manner. I love to learn piano with Kristen and always look forward for my piano lessons with her.

Kristen ensures that your vocal lessons are completely tailored to your vocal ability and goals. She makes it an enjoyable process; very encouraging. Kristen is ready to "work" right at the scheduled time and gives you a full hour sharing her expertise and experience. I always leave feeling good about the progress I made with clear instructions (homework) on how to improve. An excellent vocal coach!

Kristen is a great voice teacher! She is encouraging and supportive, in addition to coaching the fundamentals. As someone who has taken quite a few years of lessons, I can tell you that I've never had a teacher who is like her. You will leave her lessons feeling empowered and confident. She works with you to figure out what is best for you, your voice quality, style, and most importantly, what you want to get out of lessons. She doesn't dictate, but guides, pushes for what she feels you're capable of, and encourages. I look forward to each lesson with Kristen.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is as follows: $60 per 60-minute lesson $45 per 45-minute lesson $30 per 30-minute lesson Group rates are available upon request.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New students schedule a first lesson/vocal assessment which provides the student and family with an opportunity to tell me more about the student's individual goals - from preparing for an audition to gaining confidence in themselves and their voice. The first lesson affords me the opportunity to provide candid feedback and to get to know more about the student's voice and personality.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently completing my Masters in Music Education at Nazareth College. I have a Bachelors of Music from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. I am currently working in my field and find myself learning something new every day.
