Thank you Nick for making my daughters Engagement Party one to remember. The DJ music and your sons solo music had everyone on the dance floor. We enjoyed it so much and received a lot of good feedback. We also loved the photo booth and all the pictures. Thank you for your solo at the end it was awesome! I will let you know when my daughter sets her wedding date. Joanne
Mike is awesome! A really good teacher and a very talented musician. He made me feel really comfortable and gave me a bunch of great fundamental skills.
So glad we used a harpist through Sweet Harmony! It was so easy getting in touch with Tara anytime I had a question, she was really on top of everything. We had 2 songs that we really wanted to be played, and they were able to add them into the repertoire of song choices. It was such a beautiful addition to our wedding ceremony, and I would definitely recommend Sweet Harmony to anyone looking to hire a musician.
Ivan was a phenomenal addition to our holiday event on Friday, December 16th. He was extremely accommodating, and very professional. He is truly a talented man, and we can't wait to use him at our next non-profit event. I highly recommend Ivan to whoever is look for a solo pianist.
Just for background information, I took lessons with Christine for about 4 years throughout high school with a focus in classical voice. I currently still study voice in college and I can honestly say I have the most helpful foundation I could have ever asked for for that. Christine instills a very strong vocal foundation both artistically and technically. She doesn't dumb anything down, but is absolutely understandable even for beginners. She is also incredibly knowledgeable as a musician, which is enormously helpful because with each new piece she adds to your repertoire, she also builds theoretical and artistic knowledge which helps you be able to perform other pieces later on. So I went into a lot of later repertoire having a solid understanding of the purpose and context of the music I was singing. Also, she never loses sight of the artistic aspects of singing, never letting pronunciation, oddly placed breaths, facial expressions, body language, misunderstanding of text, etc, slide. This seems kind of standard, but it's actually a really professional way of treating your students and made me personally, approach my music with as much professionalism as I had developed. I also found it extremely helpful that she explained why she did asked me to do certain things or ignore other things because, especially for beginners, classical training can seem like a black box and occasionally feels like it's taking you backwards. Having those explanations assuaged a lot of that fear. In my experience, I felt a lot of changes both explicitly and implicitly. I felt my voice grow, in range and strength, and my technical foundation and knowledge are both fairly solid. I stopped fidgeting and found a tremendously improved focus and composure while performing (a big problem for me). My Italian pronunciation is actually quite good now. My ear and internal tempo are both MUCH better. My theoretical knowledge is a lot more in depth than it was, (kind of a bonus because that's not her job). And my contextual knowledge of music is also at a much higher level than it would have been otherwise. Overall, Christine is a really talented teacher and musician who provides a lot of understandable but high level information, impeccable and PRECISE technique, and an artistic but academic approach to music and singing which lays a perfect philosophy in her students for continuing to grow as musicians.
I briefly took guitar lessons from Josh. I wanted to learn to play with other musicians and improvise, and his jazz background is what caught my attention. The sessions were informative and Josh was very encouraging. I had to stop unexpectedly but what I learned in the few lessons I took was very helpful and got me out of the rut I fall into while practicing on my own.
You would be hard pressed to find a better teacher, and a better value, than Jimi Durso. He is incredibly patient, which is invaluable for students of any age. He has a methodology to his approach, but is always willing to accommodate those lessons where you rush in just HAVING to learn how to play a particular song. Jimi is also a stunningly talented musician, and an incredible improviser, so he is able to demonstrate his lessons regardless of the musical idiom you are working in. He also has a plethora of anecdotal examples to illustrate his lessons (and entertain as well!). Let me sum it up this way: after taking lessons with Jimi Durso for some time, I gave him a raise because I felt there was more value in his teaching than what I was paying. When was the last time you voluntarily paid more for something?
Sean is an amazing musician. Furthermore, he teaches music theory in a proper way. He is a good music teacher.
Spencer & Sequoia are abosolutely amazing! I hired them to play a song for my proposal in Central Park and they were great. They played the song perfectly and really created a magical and initiate atmosphere! It was better than I could have ever imaginged. Thank you guys! 👏👏
Drew is an exceptional musician and teacher. He is adapt at making abstract musical concepts concise and easy to understand. Drew also has a way of making challenging techniques feel less intimidating. Anyone who can make barre chords feel comfortable for a student is an excellent teacher!
Matthew is very professional musician. He took a lot of time to assist me preparing a very special song list for my husband's birthday dinner party. My family really enjoyed themselves especially because of his soulful sounds from playing the saxophone. He was mesmerizing. And, we're going to invite him back in the near future. Thanks, Matthew!
I've known Kevin for over ten years as a friend, a guitar teacher and a musician. He has an outstanding music knowledge base when it comes to theory, harmony, and composition. I studied with him for about three years and rate him as a teacher at the top of the list. He is very patient, and simpatico! He knows how to break things down so they can be easily grasped, and used. I am primarily interested in using the guitar as compositional instrument. Kevin has helped me find the most suitable arrangements and chord voicings for my work. Just recently I asked him to perform and record one of my songs, composed for my sweethearts birthday. I was very pleased with his interpretation of the piece, and my partner was enchanted. In conclusion, I highly recommend Kevin as a consomate professional, an excellent musician, and one great guy.
Excellent musical trio & singer. Very professional, timely and great to work with. I would definitely hire again.
We had Yuto at our event on 1/16/2015. He was early and looked cool and well dressed and played such beautiful relaxing guitar music. He can play all the singers and standards but excels in being unique in the fact that he can play music from today on his guitar and you are aware of the songs but not really, it's subtle and that's what makes him so great! I particularly remember him playing Umbrella by Beyonce and it blew my mind.
Candice is a passionate, knowledgeable singer and musician who taught me so much about myself and my voice during my time studying with her. I was a high school voice student who was unsure of my abilities and not very confident with my singing. Candice always had positive criticisms and unique exercises that taught me better breath support, projection, and site reading. I participated in two voice recitals where I sang solos in front of a room full of people to showcase what I had learned over the year (something I never thought I could do). Lessons were always fun and very laid-back for a very productive atmosphere. Overall, I could not recommend Candice more if you are looking to study under her!
Brian has taught both my sons to play guitar. Brian's teaching style is very engaging! Brian teaches using songs and music that is customized to his students thereby motivating the students even more. In addition to Brian's excellent teaching skills, Brian is very professional and prompt. I would never hesitate to refer him to others who have an interest in learning to play an instrument. He is also an excellent musician in his own right. We have gone to a variety of venues to hear Brian play both solo and accompanied. Brian is a treasure in the world of music!
Our family has been students of The Piano Workshop at Chester for more 8+ years. We are at-home students, so we are not always in the studio, but when we are, we are so impressed with the staff and the overwhelming love of music and dedication to passing that love along to the students. While our teachers have turned over through the years, the excellent talent and teaching skills have not. My son's current teacher, Sonia Kiernan, is a very special person, not only a very talented musician. How someone keeps a 15-year old boy's love for piano thriving like she does is beyond me!
Without a doubt the best jazz musician Ive seen in a long long time.
Sho is so insanely talented, and was such a pleasure to have play at our wedding. He played solo for us, outside at the Central Park Conservatory Garden. His sound is just so beautiful and incredible. I was nervous about the acoustics since you can't have any amplified sound at the park, but Sho made it work just beautifully. We chose some classical violin solos for our ceremony from a long list he provided. He is so knowledgable of the pieces, and put me at such ease - he told me to take my time with the procession, if we were walking slow and the song was going to run over, he knew how to loop it and keep the music going until everyone was in place. He really knew how to make everything happen seamlessly. I highly recommend Sho! Just to met him was a pleasure. He's a very cool person.
I'm not a musician myself, but I was blown over by how easy Caroline was to work with and she is clearly a talented violinist--she helped make our wedding really beautiful. Some of my musician friends commented on how technically amazing her playing was, and I'd definitely defer to their thoughts on the music front :). I'd highly recommend Caroline to play at any event where music, professionalism, and quality really matters! Thanks, Caroline!
Mikhail is perfect! He is very talented, a professional and can play everything you request! He and his mom played for my wedding, everyone complimented how they sounded. People thought at first it was background music from mp3 that was playing but realized it was professional musicians playing for the wedding. They made my wedding beautiful.
