Introduction: I am a relationship therapist in Brooklyn and Queens. I have over ten years of experience in direct social work and clinical practice and I have acquired valuable training and credentials that enable me to provide the highest quality care to my clients. I have a Masters Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University and I am a NY State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am a graduate of The Ackermann Institute for the Family where I studied Family Systems Theory and practiced in their world renown institute under the guidance of Susan Shimerlik, PhD. I have completed the Post Graduate Training in Addictions at Adelphi University under the tutelage of Dr. Audrey Freshman, PHD. and have earned the CASAC-T designation which I use to help those who are struggling with Drug and Alcohol Addiction. I am also recognized as a CSAT Candidate having completed the first module of training by The International Institute for Trauma and Addictions Professionals (IITAP) under the guidance of Patrick Carnes, PhD. This credential enables me to work with those who are struggling with sex addiction. I am trained in Emotionally Focused (Couples) Therapy (EFT) by Aviva Rizel, LCSW, and earned a certificate in couples counseling From The Twersky Coaching and Counseling Institute (TCCI) where I learned under Rabbi Ben Tzion Twersky, PhD. and Rabbi Mordechai Twersky, shlita. As a student intern I worked at Queens Services for the Autistic Community (QSAC), a community social service agency which provided case management services for families with autistic children in the Queens community. I provided counseling and facilitated respite services to the families. My other student internship was through TOVA of the Five Towns of Nassau County and Far Rockaway. TOVA provides mentoring opportunities to students. In addition to mentoring students and counseling their families I was an active presence in the schools working with administration and providing workshops and presentations to teachers and support staff. As the senior social worker at Mount Sinai Hospital Queens I acquired over seven years of clinical experience in a number of departments including the ER, the stroke unit, the ICU, and on the medical/surgical inpatient units. I am an active therapist with a number of Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) providing brief counseling to their members and I have been a staff psychotherapist for The Jewish Board of Family and Children Services. In addition, I am an active member of a number of professional associations including The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), The International Network of Othodox Mental Health Professionals (NEFESH), The North American Drama Therapists Association (NADTA), and The International Institute of Trauma and Addictions Professionals (IITAP). I get the most satisfaction from helping my clients to realize and achieve their goals.
