Introduction: As an Interfaith minister, I believe very strongly in meeting people where they are and in honoring their individual path. That means that every service I create reflects the beliefs and values of the people involved. I love getting to connect with people and support them wherever life has them today, Sometimes this means I get to witness and facilitate times of great celebration (such as weddings and baby blessings). Other times it means I get to hold space for people to go deep into their grief so it can be healed. It is an honor to be invited to share the lives of people at such intimate moments.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

After over 20 years in the very high-pressure and material world of advertising, I was burnt out. I knew life had to offer more than spending my time trying to get people to spend a lot of money on a luxury car. As my spiritual life grew, I learned about Interfaith ministry. I originally attended seminary primarily to support my own spiritual growth, but have been richly rewarded in the things I get to do as a minister.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

About a year ago, another wedding officiant I know could not fulfill a commitment she had made on a certain date. She asked me to fill in for her, and I agreed if it was acceptable to the couple. We met just for the first time just about a month prior to their big day so they were a bit nervous to have someone they didn't know coming in at that stage. The original plan would be that I would just perform the ceremony that had been prepared by my colleague but, as I met the couple it was clear there were many things that were confusing in the original service and not as reflective of their story and their connection as could be. I ended up rewriting a good chunk of the service to the great satisfaction of the bride and groom.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Go with your heart. Make sure you have a responsible professional that is going to show up prepared - but beyond that make sure you have a rapport that will allow you to seek support and/or counsel if need be. At the very least, make sure the person you choose is someone that brings calm and solutions to every situation instead of someone who will add drama.
