FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have three levels of lesson pricing. I charge 40 dollars an hour. 35 for forty five minutes or 20 a half hour. My students pay for the lessons at the beginning of the month by check or cash. That secures their lesson spot for each month and they need to provide 24 hours to cancel. This also separates the devoted students from the flakey students. Make up lessons are always given if a student does cancel with enough notice and I am vey flexible and accommodating to each persons scheduling needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
To stay on top of the field of teaching I am always reading books on learning and the development of the brain. I study teaching methods (music and non music related) as well as practice several hours a day myself. I try to listen and absorb new music constantly of all styles. I read old issues and new issues of guitar magazines to give myself some new ideas to play and teach.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began teaching when some friends in high school asked me if I would show them how to play guitar. I immediately realized that this was something I wanted to do when I saw them learning and understanding. The thrill accomplishment for both student and teacher is such a great feeling.
