Introduction
I’ve spent over $250 on leads and haven’t gotten a single confirmed appointment. The system charges you just for replying to a customer, not when you actually get the job—which makes it hard for small contractors like me. Sometimes 10 or more pros respond to one lead, and none of us may get the job, yet we all get charged.
It’s made me raise my prices just to cover the lead fees and travel, but then I lose customers because I seem “too expensive.” Thumbtack needs to rethink how they charge us—paying to respond with no guarantee of getting hired makes this a risky platform for solo workers or side hustlers like me.
