Introduction: I provide multisensory literacy interventions for children and adults who struggle with reading and/or writing. The list below is not exhaustive, but gives an idea of the different needs of many of the learners I help. * Language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia * Struggling readers and total non-readers * Poor handwriting – print and/or cursive * ADHD – difficulty with organization and study skills * English language learners * Expository writing I offer the following: * Consultation The initial phone consultation takes about 15 minutes. It is an opportunity for me to understand your needs (or your child’s needs) and for you to ask questions about working with me. If you decide to proceed, the next step is an evaluation. You can click on the link in the sidebar to schedule a consultation. * Evaluation Using various appropriate assessment tools, I can provide an in-depth evaluation of language and literacy skills, and provide a written report. The assessment will be followed up by an in-office, phone or video-conference meeting to review the evaluation. * Individualized Learning Plan Since everyone has different needs and goals, I tailor your learning experience to meet your needs. I use a diagnostic-prescriptive approach to facilitate learning, often incorporating tools and materials from different sources. To accommodate even the most reluctant learner with the busiest schedule, I can offer learning sessions via video-conferencing, depending on the learner’s needs and comfort with using technology. * Intervention Sessions will reflect the individual learner’s learning style and goals. Some of the specific areas I target are phonemic awareness, decoding and encoding, vocabulary through morphology, comprehension, pronunciation, handwriting, and written composition. * Follow-Up Along the journey, we will be assessing your progress. Parents and adult learners can schedule periodic check-up sessions and also receive reports to outline and chart goals.
