Hired Cultivated Tastes (Gerry & Kendall Herrfurth) twice, once for our son's baby shower and once for his baptism. They were absolutely outstanding. Service was professional, on time and all around top notch. They catered both stationary and passed hordourves, in our home, along with creative and very tasty speciality drinks. Communication before each event was also fantastic. Of course, the food was out-of-this world amazing. All of the guests commented on what wonderful events we've had at our home - due in no small part to Gerry and Kendall. I would and will hire them again.Oct 5, 2014Verified

FANTASTIC! I hired Cultivated Tastes to cater my birthday party for approximately 20 people at my house and both Chef Gerry and Kendall exceeded our expectations in every way! I started planning the event with Cultivated Tastes a few months prior to the event and they were very helpful with food suggestions and other ideas to make sure this party was going to be a success - and it was!! Chef Gerry and Kendall were very professional and friendly. The quality of food and service was definitely 5 STAR!! We decided on having passed hors d'oeuvres and stationed platters. The food was beyond delicious and all my guests and I raved about every dish!! I absolutely loved having Chef Gerry and Kendall cater my party and I will definitely be hiring them again. Thank you Cultivated Tastes!!!Dec 8, 2014Verified
Chef Gerard was an absolute delight. We hired him to cook a special dinner for my sisters bachelorette weekend and the whole evening was memorable, not least due to the absolutely superb food. From the initial contact, I let chef Gerard know that this was a big outside of my experience, and he guided me to choose styles of foods and menu items to fit a theme of ‘street food tapas.’ On the evening of the event he arrived at 5 on the dot with his sous chef Ellie and they got to work whipping up amazing dishes including perfectly cooked shrimp al ajillo, Thai spring rolls, tacos, three unique salads and the best gluten free apple crisp I have ever had. There were so many special sauces that elevated the food to next level good. They left the kitchen sparkling clean and disappeared into the night. We will never forget this special evening.Feb 18, 2019Verified

My pal and I hired Kendall and Gerry to cater our husbands' joint 50th birthday party in Bedford in 2008, to rave reviews from guests. They've since catered two graduation parties for me and another 50th for a friend. Such wonderful attention to detail, from designing signature cocktails to selecting a personalized menu with the freshest locally sourced food. They make sure that not only the guest of honor and guests had a good time, but the hosts as well. Most impressive to me--Kendall joined her staff in surprising our son at his ballgame themed graduation party wearing Yankees tees and caps--despite being Red Sox fans themselves. :-) Every event they've catered has been lovely from start to finish. I cannot recommend highly enough!Nov 21, 2014

Chef Gerry and his team are AMAZING! Everyone was raving about how wonderful the food was. Nobody left hungry and several people asked me for his information because they were so impressed. Kendall is also great to work with and she took care of me all night making sure that I truly enjoyed my holiday party. I can't wait to hire them again!Dec 15, 2014Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing is customized to the clients budget, needs and tastes. Since I don't carry a inventory of ingredients like a restaurant or catering hall, I prefer not offering a typical menu package. Its a very personalized service. However, usually for smaller parties and dinners, the per person food budget includes menu consultation, cost of ingredients/food shopping, personal chef cooking and kitchen cleanup. It typically doesn't include a server or bartender. For parties of 6 or more I recommend a server, unless its a buffet or the client prefers to be more hands on with table set up, pouring beverage and table service.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? As a personal chef, before I offer menu suggestions, I prefer to learn as much about my new customers (especially the guest or guests of honor) and their food preferences and cuisine interests and those of their invited guests. Its always helpful to gather in advance their likes, dislikes, allergies, preferred flavor profiles (i.e. spicy, mild, Asian, Mediterranean, Latin American, Middle Eastern, European, American, Italian, French). It also helps to know what they enjoy eating most (i.e seafood, beef, poultry, game, pork, lamb, vegetables etc..
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I’m a graduate with honors from CIA in Hyde Park, NY. I’m also serve safe certified.
