Introduction: My career as a photographer began in the early 90s while attending New York University (where I learned to develop and print black & white 35mm film – old school style.) I had been working as a professional actor in mostly stage, film and television since 1991. My actor friends would ask me to take their headshots and thus began my love of portraits. My acting career took me to Los Angeles from 1998 – 2008 and subsequently, my portfolio of actors’ headshots continued to grow. International travel throughout the years has garnered a great appreciation for the faces and places of the world. Some of my favorite destinations I have traveled and photographed are Ireland, Scotland, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Mexico, Spain, New Zealand, Switzerland, France, Japan, Alaska, Hawaii and the southwestern United States. With a wide range of interests in my life, I maintained a part-time job as a children’s martial arts instructor, which led me to truly love the purity and magic of a child’s energy, and especially the unfathomable beauty within a child’s face. Thus, Children and Families enhanced my portfolio. After my husband and I moved back to New York in 2008 to start a family of our own, my professional fitness career evolved from martial arts to yoga. I still loved teaching, so it made sense to become a certified yoga instructor in 2010. Hence, Yoga was then welcomed into my ever-expanding photographer’s portfolio. Portraits, Families & Yoga; I focus primarily on these three areas, with the occasional musician, birthday party or corporate photo shoot thrown in. I currently live on the Queens/Nassau County border with my husband, son and daughter. I love to teach yoga (Here and Now Yoga: Michelle Cavanagh), and I love to shoot photos. See you out there.

I love capturing the essence and beauty of people. Every person is beautiful and every person exudes their own individuality through my lens and into my composition of my picture.
