- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a complimentary screening call via phone, Zoom, Skype, or in-person. This enables me to connect with the student, parent or guardian to understand the student's goals, previous and current experiences and for me to develop a custom lesson plan so we can hit the ground running on day one. I believe every student is unique and learns at their own pace. My approach is personalized and deliberate, and I tailor the lesson plan for every student. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn the three pillars of drumming or an experienced player seeking to refine your technique and musicality, I'm dedicated to helping you attain or even exceed your musical expectations.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a musician and drummer. I have been playing drums for 60 years and I am currently in several bands including a Country band, a Soul band, and a Blues Jam band. I teach at the New City School of Music and privately out of my studio. In addition to teaching and playing live every week, I write, produce, record, and mix music. More importantly, I am a perpetual student of the drums and I continue to take private drums lessons every week from the pros. This continued learning process keeps me on my toes as I am constantly presented with new ideas and techniques that keep my skills sharpened. I have learned from the pros and every student benefits from it. I am professionally endorsed by HingeStix Practice Drumsticks, and I'm a member of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation's "Support Music Coalition", a network of non-profit organizations, schools, businesses, and individuals working hard to keep music education strong. I am also an active member and instructor through the Sabian Education Network, an organization of international educators.
