I've played with Jimi since the first time I picked up the instrument (bass for 11 years). Lessons with him enabled me to play in big bands and small ensembles at the college level, as well as have a steady stream of gigs when I was in school. His method of teaching is sadly growing rarer and rarer in private lesson study. Rather than mandate to the student rote musical examples which are a.) boring and b.) relate nothing about learning actual music, Jimi's approach is a holistic one that has faith in pupil's drive and intelligence. He demonstrates aspects of music theory fundamentals, and then has the student utilize the formulas he has imparted to extrapolate the rest, with his guidance of course. If the student has trouble, Jimi instructs to fill in the gaps but never spoon feeds. This method insures the student actually learns and internalizes the information, rather than becomes an automaton. Moreover, Jimi encourages the students to bring in pieces that they actually like to play! So instead of spending months hammering out a highly diluted version of a Bach morning song, the student can bring in pieces by Zep, the Strokes, the Black Keys, Rihanna, whatever! Jimi then instructs through elucidating the music theory fundamentals within the songs that drew the student to the instrument in the first place! Jimi is professional, yet laid back. I have continued my friendship with him after studying and going on to professional life. He's just a good dude to know. Lastly, and this should be the last thing you consider. Jimi's rates are always reasonable. For private study in college, I paid 3-4 times as much for a lesson as what I paid when taking a lesson with Jimi. I hope you Long Islander aspiring musicians realize what a gem you have there.
Scott is a real find - a delight to work with and incredibly talented. He was gracious enough to accompany some of our guests who sing. Scott's talent and professionalism made our party so much better. thanks!
Excellent musical trio & singer. Very professional, timely and great to work with. I would definitely hire again.
One of our all-time favorite singers, RL has been featured in many of our "Musical Chairs" concerts to great audience response. Highly recommended. Derrik Lewis, Producer, Palm Springs
I have been taking Bass Guitar and Drum lessons from Steve for over a year. Steve exhibits the utmost in professionalism and take the time to make sure I've mastered the task at hand before we move on to the next lesson. I would highly recommend Steve to any aspiring musician. Joe B
I had Peter play my house party Family BBQ. He truly is a pro. He played q great variety of tunes and truly entertained our guests. He took requests and at one point had us singing along. He is the whole package and I would highly recommend. From my party, Peter ended up playing with a full band at a friend in Huntington. They thanked me for the recommendation. Jackie J.
We had Yuto at our event on 1/16/2015. He was early and looked cool and well dressed and played such beautiful relaxing guitar music. He can play all the singers and standards but excels in being unique in the fact that he can play music from today on his guitar and you are aware of the songs but not really, it's subtle and that's what makes him so great! I particularly remember him playing Umbrella by Beyonce and it blew my mind.
Here at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, I've had a number of opportunities to work with Ms. Kelly as a solo act and with her bands, in all of our different venues. Always professional, on time and a pleasure to work with! And musically outstanding as well!
Sarah is an incredible piano teacher. She has taught my children for several years and they have progressed steadily and enjoy playing. She is methodical and extremely organized, teaches music theory so that the kids have a solid music foundation, provides information on books to order or purchases them for us, and is herself an extremely talented musician. The kids enjoy being able to listen to her demonstrate pieces with ease. Sarah is also a lovely person, warm, friendly, and makes the children feel comfortable. I could not recommend her more highly.

Marla Mase is an extraordinary event planner, creator of party magic and Producer! After having been in the business for a couple of decades and working in so many different venues, types of events, parties and performances, Marla has an incredible team. She’s amassed a phenomenal, devoted group of performers, artists, designers & caterers whom she employs at all her parties, depending on need and skill set. I have worked with Marla on several creative projects and events and had a ball working with her. She is the ultimate professional, but always works in a relaxed, easygoing fashion. She is open to discussion and will always brainstorm to bring ones vision to life. Recently she produced a Rock show and party in Tribeca for me that hosted an amazing band, along with several international actors, dancers and singers. Marla hired one of her designers to transform the old Tribeca firehouse into an underworld of sea creatures and magic. It was spectacular. The food was a beautifully abundant array of hors devours and beverages. Hailing from Tribeca and having worked in the New York area for so many years for hundreds of high-end clients, Marla is truly cutting edge. She has an eye for the unique, and is able to adapt to the vision of her client. Marla really gets the job done. She’s personable and lovely and I always feel I’m in good hands with her at the helm.
I met Gary about 15 years ago, when I moved to the States. His rock music teaching program for aspiring musicians of any age, grouped by skill level and interests rather than just age group, grabbed my attention the first time I visited the (now defunct, unfortunately) East Coast Music store. I joined his program, and before I knew it I became part of many bands that he formed over the years, making lots of new musical friends in addition to improving my skills. Gary's music talent is unparalleled: he knows thousands of songs across different genres by heart, his soloing skills are amazing (especially in jazz and rock) yet he only uses them artfully to refine the sound of the band, complementing shortcomings of the wanna-be musicians that he is teaching love for music to. The result is that any aspiring musician, no matter the age and playing skills, is offered a joyful and enticing environment to play music in, and feel "I did it, I can do even better and I know now what to practice on next". I am fascinated by his ability to interact with children all ages, get the most out of them and make them feel proud of their performances. When I took music lessons as a teen ager, they were all about score reading and practicing passages. Of course they are important steps, but I never had a teacher like Gary who would also bring in the passion of sharing music in a band, learning from each others' mistakes, making commitments to other band members to practice and improve, performing in public every now and then as a motivating challenge to grow musically. More recently I enjoyed playing with Gary some serious jazz. His improvisation skills are amazing and head and shoulders above anybody I know. As I play my part I listen to his soulful re-interpretation of the tune in awe, realizing how much more I need to grow and I can learn from him. I don't think there is any other professional musician that like him can dialog with pro musicians and primary school kids beginners with the same ease.
Jonathan Kalb has been my guitar teacher now for a little over a half a year and Im delighted to say, I am much more than pleased with my lessons; I cant wait until the next one comes thats how good. I took lessons previously and was OK with them, but found myself wandering and lacking a sense of commitment to the teacher and to my studies. Dry. Im not a kid anymore and was looking for a teacher who could work with my adult enthusiasm, excitement, my talent, and not be rooted to teaching me the pentatonic scales in all keys before we could get to some playing and having some fun, too... I was hoping for a teacher who could personalize his teaching skills, and for me, Jonathan came through with flying colors. Hes so much more than a One Size Fits All teacher; hes a real person reachable, able to identify my needs, my strengths and weaknesses, and takes this into full consideration during our lessons. Hes an experienced, talented teacher. Simple. Hes a person that really knows his stuff from musical theory to the many styles of playing, i.e., blues, jazz, folk, country and even rock; he can play and more importantly he can teach um all! Im an aspiring singer/songwriter and in addition to helping me define those strange chords Im playing, he inspires me to grow on. Oh, and one more thing: If your lesson is an hour long and theres something important happening, he wont cut you off - hell take the extra time needed to get you to the end of the measure, comfortably.
I had a henna party for my daughters 13th birthday party. Kristen B. did an amazing job. She was on time and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend her. The girls had a great time!
Had a great time. Great selection of music and awesome singers.
