About
I'm an engineer, math lover, teacher, and tutor. After graduating Stanford, I worked at JP Morgan as a software engineer where I advocated for STEM education through Girls Who Code and Microsoft's TEALS program. After realizing I loved working with students, I joined Teach for America, and I've spent the last year teaching algebra in New York City public schools. I love working with students to help them reach their highest potential. As one of five kids that grew up in Tennessee, I've seen how important education is to opening new doors and opportunities for oneself. I love the a-ha moments when a student makes a deeper connection, whether it be the relationship between a graph and an algebraic equation or the ability to explain the difference between a for and a while loop.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Economics from Stanford University. I'm currently enrolled as a part time masters student in Computer Science from New York University (NYU) while teaching algebra in New York public schools through Teach for America. Previous to my career in education, I worked as a software engineer at JP Morgan Chase.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have always been someone who loves acquiring and sharing knowledge and have tutored since high school. In college, I self designed classes and taught middle school and high school students in the Bay Area through a Stanford educational program. Since moving to New York, I have participated in multiple STEM education programs, most recently leaving my engineering role in the private sector to teach math through Teach for America.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I have taught math and computer science from a elementary school to adult level. I have experience both teaching in the classroom as well as one on one. In the past, I have also volunteered with STEM education organizations, including Girls Who Code and Microsoft's TEALS program.
