- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my Pilates certification with the Pilates Academy International in New York City. My accreditation ranges from Pilates mat to the full apparatus repertoire: reformer, chair, cadillac (tower), ladder barrel, arc barrel and spine corrector. In addition to my formal certification, I studied with Joseph Pilates protégé Kathy Grant while earning my BFA in Dance at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Similarly, when completing my Masters degree, I studied kinesiology and movement analysis with renowned anatomist Irene Dowd. As a professional in the dance field, my choreography continues to be presented nationally and internationally. Outside my own devising, I previously a dancer with The Metropolitan Opera for several seasons. As an educator in dance, I have served on the faculties of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and Cornell University, where I am presently an Assistant Professor of the Practice, among other esteemed universities and institutions. Pilates bridges my love for movement with my interest in muscular anatomy and exercise science—a middle ground between my professional dance career and my academic background. For nearly 20 years, I have worked with clientele of all levels and lifestyles! I spent several years as a senior instructor at Manhattan's premier Pilates studio, Pilates on Fifth, alongside luxury fitness companies, such as Equinox Clubs. I was recruited to instruct public mat classes at Lincoln Center's lululemon athletica, as well as to accompany professional/pre-professional dance curriculum in North America, Central America and Scandanavia. My practice ranges from elite dancers and athletes to senior citizens, pregnant women, television and film celebrities, weekend warriors, and clients rehabilitating from a range of injuries. Pilates is for everyone!
