FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved music, but I never really thought I would do it for a living. During college, I collected a huge CD library of music that I loved and would play it for friends or make them mix CDs. I also spent time playing guitar and bass with friends. After college I took several teaching jobs, which I enjoyed and still do to this day. In one of these jobs, my students saw my collection of music and asked me to DJ a dance for them. They enjoyed it so much that I quickly became their first choice for musical entertainment. My reputation began to spread by word of mouth and all of a sudden it became a pretty regular part time job. I began to DJ weddings and parties of all sorts. In every case, the feedback I received from clients and guests was that it was the best they had ever experienced. I realized that I could make a living doing something I loved and really bring happiness and fun to many people, so I officially started my business, knowing that its success was a sure thing.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My clients love music. Each one has a unique vision of how important music is as a soundtrack to life's important events. They hire me because they know I care about helping them achieve that vision. I take the information I get from our meeting and find the best way within their budget to make an amazing event. More often than not this involves lighting, bubbles, confetti, or such things that create an atmosphere or moment that transcends the music and ties everything together. They can count on me to have a selection of music that is unique and current, mixed in a way that demonstrates my love for the music being shared.
