What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, to remain registered in New York State a licensed massage therapist must take 36 continued education units every 3 years.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I worked in the medical laboratory field for more than 23 years. After seeing Western medicine fail to help me and family members with medical issues, I started studying up on Eastern medicine as an alternative. I grew tired of being a lab supervisor after many years and decided to switch careers.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
In my opinion a good massage therapist should be able to apt their style or choose a modality to match the clients needs. Therapists who pigeon hole themselves as a certain type of massage therapist don't understand that a client could be coming in with a different need each visit.
