By: A serial renovator who hates the bullshit lies on Yelp
I have completed 14 major renovations of homes/kitchens in the last 25 years. This is my first time using a specialty kitchen design and installation firm, and I will not do another kitchen renovation again without a kitchen specialist like MCKB and our designer Greg Hitchcock. The project was for our town home in Manhattan as part of a complete renovation with a high end contractor and an architect we had worked with on three prior projects. While we had a reasonable preliminary design, Gregs input was invaluable and led us to several major design enhancements that we had not considered (such as an open shelf for china and glasses) that have had terrific impact on design and function.
Our experience with MCKB was superb, but not without minor issues. Every renovation project has challenges, the determining factor in a renovation is how the company responds to the challenges. While there are many examples of MCKBs responsive service, two come to mind. First, our center island had a waterfall marble counter and the ends wrapped around the cabinetry in a way that made one of the doors difficult to open fully. This was not MCKBs issue, but they responded by modifying the doors and changing the hinges to handle the countertop for no charge. In another part of the kitchen there were some measuring issues that arose from pre-construction to installation, again MCKB handled the challenges superbly. Greg came up with a very solid solution and MCKB installed and resolved the problem.
For our next project, I will use MCKB again, Greg Hitchcock again and we recommend them without hesitation. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
