Introduction: Welcome to Flower City Letters! I'm Elaina DeBoard, a calligrapher and engraver based in The Flower City of Rochester, NY (but happy and able to do work remotely for any location). With over six years of experience, training from top calligraphers around the world, and 100+ happy clients, I have the ability and passion to create connection through the written word for you. Elaina was amazing to work with! She did the calligraphy for our wedding invitations and did such a beautiful job. We absolutely love them!! Not only were they beautiful but the turn around time was very quick and she was super responsive which we appreciated so much!

Elaina and FCL did a wonderful job from the beginning to the end of the process. It was a poem about the death of my friend’s dog. It was easy to communicate with Elaina and she always responded in a timely manner. Her company provides PayPal as one method of securing payment. This is good on all sides of any project like this. I just googled online calligraphy through the Thumb app and numerous calligraphers and companies responded. The prices to do this project were so varied. Some were very expensive which was way off from Flower City Letters. Elaina was not the most expensive one but also not the cheapest. When I got the project which took a little over a week I was ecstatic! I haven’t gotten to give it to my friend but I sent a screenshot of and she said she would treasure it forever! If you have FCL do a project for you, you will not be disappointed!!

It was everything I could have imagined. The soft beautiful lettering and elegance of each word will stop everyone that enters our home dead in there track to gaze at such extraordinary art work. Elaina, You are a true artist in every way. I want to thank you for making the words that I will speak on my wedding day and moment that will be captured forever. This is more than a wedding video, this will be a beautiful display of art for everyone to enjoy. And I’m sure there will be plenty of tears as it is read by many that see it. Each word, each letter has it own unique characteristics, and I am very impressed with the calligraphy. Astonishing! I highly recommend Elaina for you next calligraphy project big or small. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
When quoting a project, I make sure to include any possible add-on options so the customer knows the extend of what a project can cost. Calligraphy projects are quoted on a project to project basis depending on complexity, quantity, and timeline.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Discuss with the client their vision for the project and get specifics on timeline, quantity, colors, etc. I provide a quote for review. Once content has been approved, I complete the calligraphy or engraving.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I regularly take calligraphy and engraving classes to continue to improve and offer more with my craft. A full list of my training can be found on my website.
