Sean did a very thorough job on our fence repair. His team worked efficiently and there were no surprises on our bill. He discussed everything with us before he installed. We are very pleased.
Steve Dahlin has worked for and alongside my spouse and I for more than ten years in many facets of restoration and renovation of our historic property, such as carpentry, siding installation, painting, repairing and restoring historic floors and thresholds, windows, and exterior and interior historic moldings. The projects we've worked on together have focused on jobs both small and large on the renovation of our two-hundred-year-old historic house and barn. Steve has brought his expertise and long experience to solving the often sticky problems that emerge when restoring, preserving, renovating, and replicating historic features. One project particularly stands out: We had found an original, historic window in terrible disrepair and deterioration that we wanted to restore and put back into its original location. Every other contractor, window supplier, etc., that we spoke to told us that the window was beyond repair and that we should discard it and purchase a new one. Steve, however, took on the job and did a fabulous job of restoring the window to not only its former beauty but also its functionality. Steve impresses us with his willingness to come out and help us even when the jobs are very small. Steve has recently worked with us on repairing our historic barn, and we've been very pleased with the result.
We hired Erik Johnsen of The Fantasy Workshop to complete several jobs for us before we put our house on the market. He was incredibly helpful in identifying what he thought should and could get done in a day's time. He was able to help us complete these projects quite quickly, as we were under a tight timeline. As promised, he was punctual and incredibly efficient. He arrived to our house early, ready to get down to work. He changed out our old kitchen faucet, fixed the hinges on two doors (returning the doors to full functioning capacity), repaired a wood bench, painted the risers on our stairs, and painted our door. He also fixed several light fixtures in the house. This is work that would have cost us quite a bit of time to do ourselves, and we would not have done it with the care or attention that Erik provided. Our house looks polished and ready for a listing. Finally, he is a kind person and his prices were incredibly fair. I would use him again for any job. I strongly recommend him to anyone needing looking for a painter or handyman. I only regret that we are moving, and won't be able to use him again in the future.
I hired Tom and his team at Amore to do snow plowing and multiple small construction and repair projects on my house. It barely snowed, so hiring Amore to plow was a huge win for a person who hates snow (me). The quality of the work they have done is outstanding and every member of the team has been professional, courteous and personable. I cannot recommend them highly enough... if I could give them 10 stars, I would! Have recommended them to friends and plan to continue doing so. Kudos!
Project: • Complete Bathroom remodel. Gut to studs, remove a small closet partition. Planned Additional: • Install a hot water heater and configure the natural gas plumbing as required • Install a natural gas dryer and configure the natural gas plumbing as required • Hardwired smoke / CO detectors on every floor Unplanned additional: • Structural assessment and installation of a header to carry the weight of free hanging rafters from previous owners remodel. • Upgrading the houses mainline for the plumbing system from ½ to ¾ pipe. (Hot and cold water) Small on the spot fixes FoC • Stuck door repair – fixed several doors that were binding in the house. • Helped remove the dishwasher for servicing • Helped install / repair 2nd bathroom hardware • Helped unload my truck a few times as I was moving stuff over from my apt. Bill and the crew at Freehold Enterprises are nothing short of phenomenal. They have given me a quite high end bathroom for a bargain price, while making sure all the systems and services are safe and up to code. Insured? – Yes, and he had his Insurance Agent email me over proof of insurance within 30mins of it being requested. Courteous?– without fail throughout the entire job. Ethicial and moral?- without a doubt. He is upfront and bluntly honest. He lives the Holmes on Homes motto of “Make it Right” and “Just like I’d do it in my own house.” Communication? – while I was away on vacation in Singapore, he kept me up to date on the projects progress weekly sending me multiple pictures and kept me apprised of any issues. Cleanliness / Concern for the Non work areas – Bill papered and plastic’ed what seems 3/4s of the house in order to avoid any possible scratches to the hardwood floors or dust getting places where it shouldn't be. Any minor cosmetic damage that occurred during his work he made sure were made good; such as pressure washing the back patio where he was working and touching up the trim paint damage from his tape. The project detailed ripping out the existing ½ bath and bathroom closet for the installation of a shower and full bathroom remodel. There was an additional constraint that we would be out of the country for two weeks and wanted the project done while we were gone. Bill contacted me through Thumbtack and was courteous and detailed in his phone survey of the project. He was punctual in his arrival for the on-site job survey and he impressed me with his knowledge and willingness to work with our requirements and budget. We had our written and itemized estimate in hand 3 days later. After reviewing all collected estimates we chose to go with Bill and Freehold. That evening we met at home depot and decided on a color pallet and hardware styles. During the conversation and listening to Bill describe how he planned to stretch our budget, we decided to go ahead and give Bill full design control. The end product did not let us down. We gave him key and went off on our trip. While we were gone, Bill sent us continuous updates with photos explaining what was going on. He handled and repaired several unplanned for issues in stride and kept us updated on those; the header and house leveling for the unsupported rafters and the need to upgrade the mainline for the plumbing. Along the way he handled several other minor things as they came up; some stuck doors, installation of hardwired smoke detectors and some lights, etc. Due to both the planned and unplanned extras, we ran slightly over on time and budget, and had to move in while Bill was still finishing up. He worked with us to create minimal disturbance to our lives and routines. The finished product was worth the wait. His tile design and choices were gorgeous. The bathroom is beautiful and now out classes the rest of the house. We love it. Then to top it all off, since we had gone slightly over budget he was willing to work with us on the final payment. We highly recommend Bill and Freehold for your next project and plan to continue using him ourselves for additional projects on this and other properties. Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding this review and project: Stormer@frontiernet.net Sincerely, Jason Emans
Bill "Butch" Wilcox has done numerous jobs at our small apartment complex in SGF. His workmanship is impeccable and is always completed in a timely fashion whether it's a large undertaking, such as a complete roof rip up and application, or a small job such as a window screen replacement. He is knowledgable, honest, trustworthy, and reliable. He responds quickly to our needs. I would highly recommend Butch for most of your home repair or renovation needs.
Andrew and his team delivered exactly what we needed for our repair. Good-better-best options for the amount of work, good communication, and a very nice finished product. The repair to our front stoop looks sharp and was completed for a fair price. Thanks!

Sipe N Sons helped us plan and complete our finished basement. Ours is a 1991 built house, so there were structural issues that needed to be addressed and brought to code for us to create the finished space we wanted. Adam and his team worked with me and my engineer through all the challenging steps of designing, planning, permitting and final execution to complete our finished basement to our taste and requirements.Things took longer than we had expected going closer to 4 months. The Building Dept did not approve of several features for lack of code compliance. These had to be redone before we could get their final approval. Also, there were several rounds of upward adjustments to the budget which they overshot significantly. After working through all the glitches patiently and carefully, we got our finished basement exactly as we wanted it. Adam's team returned a few times to make sure all the touch ups and finishes were perfect, which we had always insisted on. Make sure you ask for a realistic budget and state your expectations clearly in terms of timeline and the look of the finished product.
Neil Peterson did an outstanding job! He created access to the attic in our house by cutting and framing an opening in our upstairs ceiling and then installed stairs. He also did finishing work so that the installation blended perfectly with the decor of the rest of the house. He was very professional, courteous, excellent in his attention to details and charged very reasonably. I would hire him for future work without hesitation.
