Clyde Forth is an extraordinary teacher. I came to Pilates as someone with lower back issues. My private work with Clyde proved to be the perfect approach to strengthening my core while supporting my back. Her amazing knowledge of human anatomy and movement makes her aware of my needs and limitations. I feel very trusting about her ability to prescribe movements and postures for me and keep me safe from injury. Clyde is a very sensitive and encouraging teacher. She has a well balanced approach to all students in the mat classes, intuitively giving personal attention to those who need it. She instills a sense of confidence in me by guiding me gently yet knowledgeably through challenging movements. My 8 year old grand-daughter has been studying Creative Movement with Clyde for 3 years. Clyde's beauty, grace and creativity has helped her develop her stage presence and talent. We are so fortunate to have such an amazingly talented dancer and teacher in our community!

Clyde has been my Pilates teacher for 4 years, and without her I would be a much older man. I just returned from a communal building project, and when the younger men were unable to pound something high on the wall into place, I grabbed two roof rafters, hauled my self up and kicked the thing into place! There was much admiration. Clyde's teaching made that possible. It also keeps my back pain free, and me flexible and active. I've worked with other Pilates teachers over the years, and Clyde stands out.

My daughter studied modern dance with clyde on and off for 5 years. And after seeing the gorgeous choreography clyde encouraged in young people, I decided to try a modern dance class with her, myself. Dance with clyde is infused with self-expression. Every step feels like an artwork, and the phrases are so much fun to learn. Even the most awkward person, such as myself, feels like a real dancer under clyde's respectful guidance and direction. I especially appreciate the non-judgmental atmosphere clyde creates around everyone in the class, and the feeling of collaboration.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Absolutely! I regularly get together with colleagues to practice innovations in choreography, workshop special client cases, and attend Pilates conferences/intensives and dance workshops with other choreographers. I also utilize the vast resources on the web to continue my study of anatomy, read articles on exercise and health and find out about new modalities.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

One of the most common 'jobs' my Pilates clients request is support and rehabilitation after an injury. I work with clients who have chronic joint issues, joint replacements, spinal injuries/conditions, and scoliosis. As a dance teacher I work with beginning students on building proper alignment and strength. More advanced students are taught composition, expression and choreography. My dance company Clyde Forth Visual Theatre is booked for performances and residencies in a number of situations: concert, University, festival, professional meetings, etc.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always ask if you can attend a free class or if the instructor offers a special rate for new clients. Many of us do!
