Introduction: QUALITY... there are few service professionals who will take the time to do a thorough and complete job and take pride in the level of workmanship they produce. I am one of them. I take pride in doing a quality job, once, and having satisfied customers, repeatedly. I always follow, at minimum, industry standard best practices re:materials and methods (most times surpassing them), I have a relentless attention for detail and I care that the job gets done right. Having apprenticed with old world craftsmen more than two decades ago, I was taught to take pride in the quality of my workmanship. I appreciate customers who value these same core principles. "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right" I very much enjoy seeing the finished product and the smile on my clients faces with a job well done. To know that they are happy with my work and appreciate the job I've done is a reward in itself.

Bern worked on a new home renovation for me. Not only did I find his experience and skills to be excellent, he was incredibly conscientious, considerate and very trust worthy. Nervous as a new home buyer, he put my fears to rest with daily photo updates on the home project , had clear and quick response communication and was a pleasure to work with. His 30 years as a highly skilled contractor/master carpenter were very apparent. He holds a great deal of integrity regarding doing the job the "right" way and the best it can be done. Without hesitation I would recommend him and absolutely utilize his services again if need be.

I contacted Bern to remove my old mattress, box spring and frame and set up my new ones. He was on time, prepared, hard-working, efficient and personable. I would hire him again and can recommend him with pleasure.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing schedule is not standard, it is job specific. What IS standard is that I try and work within my client's budget while remaining fair to all parties involved.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It starts with a phone call to figure out what exactly the client needs/wants and to make sure it's a good fit for all involved. next is usually scheduling an estimate/walk-through (depending on size of project; some specific, smaller jobs may not need one), then a proposal. if accepted, we schedule the project. I do the work. Happy customer, happy contractor.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
- I apprenticed with Old World Carpenters, Woodworkers and Craftsmen. - I attended the Institute of Design and Construction, Brooklyn and NYC District Council of Carpenters Labor Technical College, Manhattan. - I have over 25 years professional experience in the construction/renovation industry.
