Introduction: At age 7 I began showing interest in music. I was exposed to several different styles of music and enjoyed almost all of them! However, my first attempt at learning to play the piano was discarded. Perhaps I was too young to fully appreciate my instructor's classical approach and/or there was a lack of connection between the teacher, music, and I. 5 years passed and I felt ready to give it another try. Luckily, I found a teacher who became more of a mentor to me. We studied several different types of music and practiced multiple approaches to learning music. This, sets me apart from most instructors because I have a valuable perspective on the importance of student-instructor relationship.
