- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Set up a trial lesson so we can spend some time working together, and figure out if we're a good student/teacher fit.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's and a Master's in Performance, and my primary private instructors have been Warren Friesen conductor of the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra, John Graham of the Eastman School of Music, and Toby Appel of Juilliard and Carnegie Mellon University. I utilize a number of teaching methods including Suzuki, Givens, Orff, Dalcroze, and Kodaly. I also utilize the methods of Mimi Zweig, Paul Rolland, and Karen Tuttle. We sing a lot in lessons (using moveable do) and I'm a fan of Eurhythmics. Teaching Experience; Private teacher and coach for over 15 years, Teacher/Conductor El Sistema Shaker Heights, Private lessons for ISD 709- Minnesota Public Schools, string sectional coach for Allegheny Valley Youth Orchestra. Playing Experience; I'm a freelance violinist and violist, and I play a lot of chamber music. Some of the groups I play with are the Erie Chamber Orchestra, Incidental Chamber Players, Classical Revolution PGH, OvreArts, and Resonance Works. I also play with the Erie Philharmonic, I'm the former principal violist of the Butler County Symphony, and a founding member of the Black Orchid String Trio, and Pittsburgh's Eclectic Laboratory Chamber Orchestra. I've also had the opportunity to play under or coached by; Sir Andrew Davis in Pittsburgh, Seiji Ozawa in Boston, Bobby McFerrin in St. Paul. I've also had the opportunity to perform in Master Class for Vartan Manoogian, John Graham, Toby Appel, Misha Amory, and Patricia McCarty. I've also been coached by members of the Ying Quartet, Takas Quartet, Cavani Quartet, Quartetto Latinoamericano, Brentano Quartet, American Quartet, and Janáček Quartet.
