Blown away by the quality of work this company performed! They mowed my lawn, edged the sidewalks and driveway, mulched, trimmed shrubs, pressure washed the entire exterior of the house, and cleaned the entire interior in only a couple of days! Fast and reliable! Will definitely be using them again for any future work!

Extremely pleased with every aspect of the experience. Great response all through quote to completion of job. First sealing on new driveway - went above and beyond with an additional cost to meet their standards.

I had them replace a driveway for our new home. they were very quick to do the work which I wanted done as soon as possible. it was refreshing to have a group of guys who were professional, genuinely seemed to enjoy the work, took pride in their work, and for an honest rate. I didn't have to deal with all the big company type of distractions. I have already referred a couple of my neighbors.

We have never had any work done on our previous properties other than your typical seal coat. We needed some major work done on our driveway and wasn’t sure if it was salvageable. We had heard about this company through a client of ours and decided to reach out even though he was two hours away. All we can say is that this has to be one of the top notch companies in Ohio. So many businesses are lacking the personal attention and care when it comes to what the consumer wants and needs. He went above and beyond. We received not only what we wanted but because of his professionalism and experience, we also were able to get exactly what our driveway needed for years to come. Great experience! This is how business should be done. We will definitely be recommending this service to everyone we know.

Mid Ohio did several jobs for me. The first project was a shadowbox fence which turned out wonderful the dogs love being able to run around. Our second project was a 30 x 40 pole barn including insulation, electrical, concrete floor, and a driveway. Do to the amazing job Trent and his guys done we went ahead with a couple of smaller projects inside the house. The flooring in the living room, dining room, foyer, back hall, pantry, kitchen, half-bath, and laundry room were changed out to engineered flooring that my dogs have yet to scratch. After the floors both bathrooms were done including tiling the walls, flooring, putting in a shower, lowering a tub that the previous owner had built up so high that I needed a step stool to get into it, both vanities, light fixtures, toilets, mirrors, painting, and both exhaust fans. All the flooring looks absolutely amazing and what we wanted. Last but not least one of the most important things when remodeling is that they cleaned up the mess and I didn't have to clean anything when they left. These guys are great and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality job.

After another contractor failed to show up to work on my drive, porch, & patio I found Thumbtack, and 5 Star Concrete was quick to respond to my project request. Joe came out and gave a fair estimate and we agreed to go forward. 5 Star delivered from tear out to finishing details. We now have a new front porch with walkway, driveway and a patio for some outdoor living/entertaining space. The crew worked well together and although I tend to be paranoid regarding contractors, I was very impressed and feel very good about the entire experience. Thanks, Joe and the 5 Star employees for a job well done.

We had our 1,000' uphill driveway re-excvated. We had terrible water runoff. We had 10 companies give us estimates. Jake's Property Service explained everything that needed to be done to fix the issues we were having. Every other company only gave suggestions. They also arrived and finished when they said they would. Their customer service was second to none and the employees who arrived to do the work were very polite and answered my many, many questions. Also with the estimate, Jake sent us a pamphlet that highlight, his Faith, Family and business. This sealed the deal with us. This is a great company. I would use them again.

I believe Brecks paving did a great job on installing a new asphalt driveway at my home. They worked hard and all the workers seemed interested in doing their best work. I found Carol very easy to work with and she was easy to get ahold of with questions I had. I am a little dissapointed with the driveway being kind of high off the ground and the job took three days to complete instead of one. That is why I gave a rating of 4 instead of 5. I would definitely recommend Breck's paving for quality work.

We have a paver driveway that had settled in a few areas. Roland spent several hours making things perfect. The cost was extremely reasonable. The A-listers from Angie's List blew us off till the fall. Roland came out immediately. We were very impressed with the service.

            Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

            • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
            • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
            • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
            • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
            • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
            • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

            What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time.
