FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
In my prior solo practice I represented 1) defendants in criminal and traffic cases, 2) plaintiffs in personal injury claims and / or lawsuits and 3) the same types of clients on appeal or assisting their existing attorney in preparing an appellate brief. I closed my law practice in the fall of 2013 to accept position as a staff attorney at the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. As a staff attorney, I assisted my judge in managing an entire civil docket, working with attorneys and their clients from the initial scheduling conference through jury trials. I also assisted my judge with legal research and writing, primarily on the civil side, but sometimes also with criminal cases. Lastly, I assisted pro se litigants in cases involving a petition for a civil protection order. Since I joined McNeal Schick at the beginning of 2015, the focus of my practice has shifted to defense side civil litigation, primarily in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, construction law and insurance coverage. I am still willing to take plaintiff's personal injury cases, provided that there is no conflict, but I no longer represent defendants in criminal or traffic cases.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Choose an attorney with the right experience for the legal issue you have. Remember, the lowest fee is not always a good deal in the long run. On the contrary, the highest fee or oldest lawyer may not necessarily be the right person for the job. Above all, make sure that you hire an attorney who you are able to reach via telephone or email without unreasonable delay and one who begins the relationship by being a great listener.
