FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I consider many factors when pricing a job. These include everything from how much prep work is required, the type of material that is being hung, to the difficulty in terms of how much trimming and going around various things in the room, be it windows, built-ins, cabinets, etc... I will probably not be the cheapest paperhanger that you will find, but I am always fair and I think the quality of my work speaks for itself.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The Persnickety Paperhanger has over 20 years of experience and has apprenticed under masters of the trade going back three generations. Each generation, passing their knowledge on to the next. With this kind of background and extensive training you can rest assured that The Persnickety Paper hanger has both the skills and patience to provide the most beautiful results possible.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began my career over 20 years ago and started off as a painter laborer. I worked my way up and discovered wallpapering which I found fascinating. I was eventually offered a job by a man with a very small but successful business. I could see that he was a master paperhanger, so I agreed to come work for him under the condition that he would teach me his craft. I spent nearly two years just working the table, cutting and pasting sheets. Eventually he started to let me hang the paper, standing over my shoulder all the while. It was quiet the stressful time, but he moulded me into an outstanding paperhanger, and for that I couldn't be more grateful.
