We had an excellent experience with Focal Point Floors. Our project was complex and involved sanding existing hardwood, removing carpet, and installing new flooring that needed to seamlessly match the newly refinished wood. At least one company we contacted refused to take on the job, and another was hesitant.Cuyler, however, didnt flinch. He provided a fair estimate, a clear timeline, and the confidence that the work could be done, and then he delivered. His craftsmanship is exceptional; youd never know the flooring wasnt all installed at the same time. The floors are stunning.Cuyler was professional, communicative, and easy to work with throughout the entire process. Were thrilled with the results and highly recommend Focal Point Floors.

We wanted to get our floors sanded and refinished but found out we could not do that due to it being manufactured hardwood. He told us an option to use a solution and uv lighting. We put our trust in him and decided to take a chance on it. He put a lot of time into making sure the job was done right. We are happy with the results and I would recommend him to others.

Happy with Cuylers work. Best price, and I rate him as a trustworthy guy. After working with him for a bit I gave him key code access to our house without worrying about it. He was especially accommodating of all of our unique scenarios, we had very aged floors with large cracks. He allowed me to fill all the cracks myself and he helped by provided the product for me to use, he bent over backwards with his schedule to meet our timelines, and he was willing to take risks with a thin splintering area of our floor that I wanted him to try to sand down deeper. The floor has sat 6months, the finish he picked is incredibly durable, it looks great.If there are large cracks, he doesnt have the tool set yet to amend them I think. I got insight from another guy that looked at our floors, and I handled all the large cracks and damage myself. That looked like using a multi tool saw to remove large strips and chunks of our floor and nailing in new sacrificial strips that I pulled from under our fridge. Im sure he could have done it probably, but it was time consuming and he didnt volunteer. High risk for ruining our floors I guess, so I was happy to do it. Definitely not something that should be expected of a company that focuses on just refinishing floors, that was more of a house restoration task.For using filler product in medium damage areas, he recommends Elobe flexible caulk. The idea is that the traditional way of using hard glue based fillers eventually leads to them cracking out over time as the floor breathes and flexes. The down side with Elobe I see though is the lack of color options. Its a perfect product where we used it in our kitchen as a dark filler for the cracks, but where used to color match our oak it is not a good color match and some of our guests point it out. Ill eventually scrape it out and use traditional color matching glue stuff, it didnt seem like Cuyler was experienced with those methods. Which is all good, he has continued to offer to help me remedy by bringing me the original clear coat so I can repair the spots, thanks man! Just havent gotten to it!100% recommend if you just want floors refinished, this guy is the best. If you want someone to do intense old house restoration stuff where youre rebuilding floors with additional wood and filling large damage, you could benefit from finding an old guy with experience in that kind of stuff thats going to charge you lots of money and take a long time and really obsess about the details. Or if youre doing it yourself, then Im so happy we went with Cuyler. Anyways, I like this guy, perfect service for refinishing floors and we were a unique case he was brave to take on!
