- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My process is different! I use a "Build Your Own Ideal Package" quote system so that you get everything you want and don't have to pay for extras that you don't want. Most other DJs offer pre-built packages where if you want one feature, you have to buy the Tier package that includes that feature, even if that package includes things you don't actually want. I start with a base package for your event type. You can then choose from a menu of available options to create your ideal package. All events come with DJ, a quality sound system, mic, consultations and online planning forms, travel, set up and tear down time included. I offer additional options to make your event exactly how you want it to be. Use my free online quote tool to build your ideal package and get an instant price for every package you build. I service a wide area, so travel will be included within your quote calculated by the estimated miles I will travel to your event. WEDDING DJ/MC: You get your own Online Client Area with tools to plan your ceremony and reception. You'll have access to my Music Request system to create playlists and explore curated lists of the most requested songs for each part of your wedding day. You'll also have unlimited consultations in preparation for your event. In addition to the standard setup, weddings include a lit DJ booth and two lit towers plus two Mini-Kinta derby lights. Q: Can you DJ a ceremony where there's no power? Yes. I can run fully battery-powered sound for ceremonies with no power on site — a hilltop, an orchard, a barn field, the far end of a vineyard. No generator running behind your vows, and no cables taped across the lawn. Now, you can have your ceremony virtually anywhere you like and still have professional audio and wireless mics. You don't have to move your ceremony to wherever the outlet happens to be. AVAILABLE OPTIONS: Audio Guestbook: Ornate old-time, battery powered phone. Each guest can record a message after the tone following your custom greeting. You get digital files of all the messages. Up-lighting - Decorative lighting is one of the most cost-effective ways to decorate your space. Highlight architectural features, walls, ceiling, columns in your choice of colors. Your Names in Light - Custom Single Color Monogram lighting Deluxe Monogram lighting - includes animation/background video Subwoofer pair for extra thump on the dancefloor. Upgraded Dance Floor Lighting: Can include Wash Lights, Strobes, Black Light, Laser, Starlight, Water Effects, Moving head lighting Upgraded ceremony mics Multiple Stations: An audio system for each different space at your venue. Multiple Locations: If your ceremony is at one address and reception at another, I've got you covered. Atmospheric effects - Haze, Fog KARAOKE: I offer Fully Hosted karaoke, which includes the DJ/Host, plus the full sound system, music, karaoke songbook, wireless microphones, monitor(s), setup/teardown and travel. I can optionally connect to your TVs wirelessly to display lyrics and singer rotation. It's a great party! WEEKLY KARAOKE: pricing for weekly shows at bars, restaurants or other venues will enjoy a substantial discount from standard karaoke shows when booking 4 or more shows in advance. REFUNDS: A non-refundable retainer is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due two weeks prior to the event. If the event is rescheduled, retainer and payments to date will be applied to the new event date. If an event is cancelled, only the funds paid in excess of the retainer will be refunded. However, no amount is refundable for events cancelled 14 days or less before the event date.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a new customer contacts me, I like to respond to them right away. I use the messaging system here on Thumbtack. It helps to keep track of everything we've discussed together so we can refer back at any time for answers to any questions. That gives us a chance to really understand each other and come up with the best options for the event. To get started, use my online availability checker to make sure I am available on your date. Then build your ideal package using my free online quote tool. Most clients end up creating several different quotes to mix and match features until it matches their vision and budget. Your quote is the exact price you’ll pay. No hidden costs or fees. Then, with a click, booking begins by clicking the "Book Online" button, which then shows you a pre-filled contract preview. We then discuss any questions or concerns you may have. When you’re ready, I email a contract for your electronic signature. The entire process can take less than ½ hour from first contact to fully booked. Within minutes you can see if the date is available, create several custom packages, get exact pricing for each and book the date conveniently online as well as pay using the secure payment portal. Working with DJ Rob could not be more quick, convenient and safe. Once the event is booked and the retainer payment has been made, the client has full 24/7 access to their online Client Area on my website. Clients work through planning forms and playlist generator at their own pace. All planning tools and playlists are due usually 2 days before the event date.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Since 2003, I've had hands-on experience as a Radio DJ, Recording Studio tech, Karaoke Host and DJ for weddings, parties, and corporate events. I'm very comfortable as Master of Ceremonies (MC). I've given over 6500 speeches, presentations and workshops over 3 continents and have been awarded the level of ATM-B and CL by Toastmasters(Public Speaking organization).
