- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes I do. Depending on the guarantees you want and the items that I have to supply the prices must vary. My basic rate for landscaping with me supplying equipment that I have is $30.00 per hour for a crew of 2.5 people.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1) Set basic needs of the client. 2) Establish our credentials. 3) Discover limits of site. 4) Define better the needs and visions of the client with constraints. 5) Interpret the visions of the client, requirements of site, and design job. 6) Refine job with input from client and designer. 7) Make a contractual arrangement between the two parties with the expectations discussed. 8) Work performed to expectations. 9) Review of work done and fulfillment of obligations.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
1) Graduated at the top of my class in the Landscaping Construction and Maintenance at Ohio State University-ATI in 2001 2) Taken many classes from OLA and ONLA and APLD in a continuing education basis to improve the depth of my knowledge. 3) Founding Ohio Chapter director as Vice President for the Ohio Association of Professional Landscape Designers and attended many classes and refresher classes. 4) Taken classes with a number of manufacturers to improve my knowledge (ie: Rainbird, Aquascape, Unilock, etc.) 5) Major aspect of my training is that I write a column every week talking about landscaping topics and others every week. This means that I must do new research in my field all the time to stay current as to what I write about. 6) Experience and people happy with my work is the best education.
