- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Some matters we will handle on an hourly rate and some matters we will handle on a contingency. Personal injury and workers compensation will handle on a contingency. Domestic relations matter (divorce, custody etc) we handle on an hourly rate, since we never know how much time will be involved or how quickly we can resolve your case. We always try for an agreement rather than drag out a case with litigation. Some cases, such as a Dissolution of Marriage, we can handle as a set fee.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You want someone with experience. Someone who knows the law and also knows the courts that you will be involved with. When you meet with the potential attorney, make sure that your personalities match. You want someone who you can work with and trust. Will that attorney be doing your work or will he refer it to someone who works for him. You are hiring the lawyer and he should be the one working for you.
