Prom or school dance,
We unfortunately had a bad experience. Our DJ played the wrong song for our first dance, we embarrassingly had to wait for it to be corrected. His equipment went down for 45 minutes with no music at all. No lighting was really used, and we did not complete games we agreed on. Overall very disappointing.Jul 26, 2020VerifiedHeart Beat Music's reply
In response to your review... Your Bride Victoria asked me to start playing the 1st dance song and for me to cut it off in the beginning as a joke, so she could get a step stool and then replay the song over. It does not appear you were aware of this. I don’t normally cut on the dancing lights until the 1st dance or when the dance floor opens. I turned them on midway through the 1st dance and they remained on for the rest of the night. After your Bride Victoria gave her well wishes to the guests, we opened up the dance floor. I asked the Bartender to dim the lights... When he did that, that’s when my system got a power surge. The manager in charged heard a “POP” back in the kitchen area and I was told the buildings wiring was faulty and he had me plug into another outlet. I sent you a picture of my play history showing time stamps of when music was played, including breaks in the music. It shows that the music stopped roughly around 2:45pm to 3:05pm... 20 minutes. I had to power my equipment down and restart it after I made sure that nothing was blown: the music was back up and running. I also brought my up-lights to add a little color and ambiance to the room, but they already had lights on the walls shining upward and there were no outlets to plug them in anywhere on the walls. That probably would have caused more problems with the surge that occurred, if I had rigged them up somehow. With the late start of your arrival and no set agenda, we were to play everything by ear, I thought. However, I was still prepared for the Shoe Game. The Karaoke would have been a blast if we had just one person brave enough to sing a song. However, people were dancing and having a good time as I played their requested songs. Although the downtime of the music was due to the building wiring and not my equipment, I still played music an extra 30 minutes as a courtesy. I regret the misunderstandings and the issues that were out of my control. As you saw prior to hiring me from my previous reviews, I take pride in providing exceptional service to my clients. I wish you and Victoria all the best!
Amazing! He was incredible all across the board and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone to DJ their wedding!Jan 11, 2020Verified
DJ Marcus was great ! Ours was an Indo American wedding and I was impressed with DJ Marcus collection of Indian music. He mixed it up so well, he had everyone on the dance floor.Sep 21, 2019Verified
Felt like family - everyone commented on how good Kelvin was and how nice he was! Actually talked to him at 2pm about coming to DJ - he was here at 530pm without any hesitation - such a great evening - would hire him again in a Heart Beat 😉Aug 24, 2019Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We don't charge for setup or tare-down. We normally arrive at the event about 1 1/2 to 2 hours before the event start time.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I normally would have a phone conversation to schedule a meet and greet to go over the details of their event. Usually at a Panera or a Starbucks.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I use to have a music group with all kinds of equipment; speakers, mics, keyboards. A friend of mine asked me to play some music at a wedding in 1992, and been playing ever since!
