FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't have a complicated system for pricing. I generally look at what the client needs, how much research and sketching I'll need to do and how the final artwork will be utilized. As an example of how final artwork would be utilized; if I'm making a sports mascot, that means I'll probably have to create permutations of the mascot for various media, like jerseys, helmets, websites, bumper stickers, etc. So I would need to make sure I planned for those permutations and included that in my estimate.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a beta tester for a software development company located in England. I work with a great deal of vector art software before it ever goes commercial and provide feedback to streamline and shape the products. It's very fulfilling to have a hand in shaping the tools I work with.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've illustrated since I was 6. I just knew I was going to animate Disney movies as a child, but in college I discovered graphic design and shifted focus to commercial illustration.
