Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We had a client come to us after the IRS garnished her bank account. She hired a firm out of state to represent her on an offer in compromise but they didn't prepare tax returns, which is what brought her to our firm.
We discovered the contract she signed with the out of state firm required an initial $10,000 payment with another $10,000 due in 30 days and a continued fee of $1500 per month until the issue with the IRS was resolved.
We assisted the client in legally canceling the contract due to the unconscionable fee they were charging which is against the policies with the IRS. Once we prepared the required returns the client did not owe any taxes.
Our client was satisfied not only because she didn't owe any taxes but we saved her at least another $10,000+. She has been a friend and a loyal client ever since.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We work on matters that are urgent and can have additional time requested to complete and gather all information being requested. The client will have to gather all information necessary to prepare or amend a tax return and sign a power of attorney with our office so we can speak directly to the revenue officers for Federal and State.
