Introduction: While I rely on a few frameworks and what not to speed things up, I don' allow those things to become an excuse to cut corners. I take a lot of pride the small details of what I do and it shows. I'm very critical of my work and everything I produce I hope to have in a portfolio. It's not about the money at all, I do this for the love of the challenge design brings to the table. I love the challenge. I know a great deal about quite a few technologies and how to implement them, but no matter how much you learn, there is always a new challenge that rears it's head. Finding the solutions to these issues is an amazing feeling. Another thing that drives me is the intricacy required for some of the sites I create. Aside from the graphics and interfaces I build, there is a great deal of artistry in the way we weave various technologies together to create new processes and automations. Even with the knowledge of how to get it done, it still amazes me at times. In addition, I get to learn quite a bit about various industries when I build a customer's websites and learn how to introduce their services to their customers.

As an Entrepreneur, I have had many occasions to hire Mathew for my own website work & to recommend him to others. His work is awesome. I choose him every time. He has such a great eye for design, balance & color. People I have recommended him to have reported back with a thank you. I have never had anyone come back to me with unhappy results. FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm constantly trying to learn new techniques, APIs and languages as well as design concepts. It never stops in the web development industry. Things are constantly changing.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always been into art, but I had a friend who was into programming. He got into building websites and needed a designer to get things looking sharp, so I got real heavy into Photoshop and design. Occasionally, there were challenges when it came to converting designs to websites and when they couldn't be overcome by my buddy, I wanted to find a way to make them work. This is what got me motivated to hop into the business of making websites. It's a never-ending challenge from so many points of view, from design, to seo, marketing, styling with CSS, automation with JavaScript and it's various libraries, and getting all that to work with the back end via PHP and MySQL etc. There is always something to conquer.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Through Thumbtack, I typically get logo design lead or small business websites. I'd like to do more branding and SEO work as well though.
